Marcus was nothing but a persistent young man. He wanted a true confession out of Ana's mouth and he got it. "You already gave me what I wanted, Marianne. The truth. I'm satisfied now…" He said with a smile, also falling back to a more familiar level. No. He wasn't trying to further annoy her with said smile. He was trying to give her support.
"Who said that what you're thinking is what would happen? You could easily fool everybody… Say you're going for a different approach to gain information at Hogwarts and if someone says you're unable to fulfill your duty due to that… just stand up in front of them while you still can. You're a fully trained spy by now, Belle. You know the drill back and forth on how to make people believe what you want them to…" He suggested as a plan of action.
"I know it's not good to fool your family, but if you know they won't be as supportive to your condition as they should be… Well, they kind of deserve that… Not to mention it'd undoubtably prove your skill and the fact you deserve your position, which I truly believe that you do." He said innocently, even though he was telling her to lie to her family.
Marcus could've made an excellent spy himself as he was proving by his infiltration of the Order of the Phoenix. He had that kind of duplicitous mind perfect for that work when he wanted. Actually if he wasn't such a no nonsense person or trained since birth for his field commander status, he'd have chosen the spy career for himself. He was really enjoying himself wearing Ana's job shoes for a bit. It approached them even more.
Marcus also understood Ana's concerns. He knew how hard it had been for her when she was called for duty due to Rafiel's illness. He had been her counselor since her arrival at Rome. As the oldest, he actually fulfilled that role for pretty much everyone in the new Curia council and he kind of likes that secondary job. If everyone works together in a rounded way, things get done faster and easier. Marcus loves speedy results, especially of the favorable kind. Izzy was even more unprepared than Ana was when she arrived. It would be difficult and a tortuous path to place the girl in the same level her sister had achieved since being convoked. Anyway, Marcus was sure that the situation wouldn't lead to that, not if he covered her tracks with the approval of the other members of the council. She was the hardest to convince really.
His patience was almost over, true, but Marcus had decided to give Riley a bit longer to complete that specific report as it was about important information and he wanted an as accurate as possible analysis. In a normal situation he would've been bothering her about it for the two days he had been waiting now. "Oh. That's good to know. I was about to ask Riley for it anyway. I guess tomorrow then? Or two more days? We need to find all those people before the Auditore do, Belle." He said a bit agitated, without even registering the mention about Gio's new theory. They always gave him a headache anyway. He was just a normal guy after all.
The people the Curia had been looking for in Britain were the ones prophesied in two prophecies they had possession of, actually the Salvatores did, but Marcus knew of them too. The Triumviri and The Return of The True Heirs ones. The first was credited to a british seer wizard named Ignotus Peverell and the second to an Italian one named Pietro of Venice. Both written during the Middle Ages, though the first was about a century older.
Marcus let out a loud laugh at Ana's reply. "Si. Si. You're totally right about me, Belle. Beneath the no nonsense exterior lies a total father bear." He joked back. It wasn't far from the truth though. It was part of his job to worry about his subordinates or coworkers, it also helped that some of them were his personal friends for quite some time. Obviously, he didn't want anything prejudicial to happen to any of them. He knew their strengths and weaknesses and also how to use them effectively. His plans always took such into consideration and that was his strength as a military leader.
