Me Against the World; The World is Winning [Ginny]

Harry was a bit confused right now. He wasn't sure what to do. Sure he just heard word that Ginny was available now, but he didn't know what he was thinking. He just needed a breather. When he thought about it, well he knew he couldn't but his heart said otherwise.

Harry hurried down through the lawns of Hogwarts, trying to clear his head. All his thoughts were about Ginny Weasley, his best mate's little sister. He couldn't do it. That'd be too dangerous. Voldemort, Malfoy, Snape, everyone seemed to be out for him. No one except his two best friends, who were in love with each other and he was swore to secrecy about their feelings to each other. Oh yes, he should tell them all about his love life, which was non-existent since Cho turned out to betray his trust. What was he going to do? He had no idea.

Harry walked aimlessly and sat down by a tree on the outer rim of the forest, where they were allowed to go, though any farther and he could get detention. He closed his eyes and tried to think of what he was going to do to suppress these feelings.

Ginny wandered down towards the forest, she had seen Harry come down this way looking confused and wondered why. Of course, she would never tell him that's why she was down this way. She'd simply say she had been out walking trying to calm down. Malfoy had been up to his antics again, so she wasn't exactly lying. She was also starting to notice how thin and exhasted Malfoy was looking, and his fight was dying, but he still pissed Ginny off, and that's all that mattered.
She finally spotted Harry nearing one of the trees, just outside the forest. She tucked her hands into her winter robes and shook her hair out around her face, which instantly warmed her up. "Looking a little confused, Harry," she said, stopping several feet away, to not scare him too much.

Harry opened his eyes slowly knowing Ginny's voice. He pushed every thought except that she was Ron's sister away from his mind. Harry simply sighed, closing his eyes once more.

"Just everything seems to be going wrong. Draco's a Death Eater, but no one believes me, these transfers have me up half the night wondering why the heck they are here, and well Sirius' death, and Voldemort, Snape, Slughorn, Dumbledore... just everything seems so hard right now," Harry replied trying not to sound like he was complaining. He was just stated everything but one thing that was bothering him.

Ginny wandered closer, "most of the transfers seem trustworthy enough, and I've done as much research as I could. It seems their "evil" is worse than ours. They're transfering makes sense. As for Draco, he's been pretty down low lately, and not a whole lot he can do when he can barely stand, so I think you're alright about him for now. There's no point in worrying more about Voldemort, we're doing the best we can. Sirius would not want you to mourn this long over him, he'd want you to continue your training and keep up with Voldemort. Dumbledore's doing all he can to help you right now, I know he is. You need to just push all those worries away and focus on today, not on months or years in the future or past. The past has happened and the future can change, it's best to focus on now." Ginny was now only a foot or two away from him. "Just try to relax, Harry, Gryffindor needs a relaxed captain."

"But what if me not worry about the future seals my death? What if it makes is so Hermione's, Ron's, or anyone else's is lost because I wasn't careful enough. I'm not really mourning anymore over Sirius, but he's just a slap in the face for what could happen to me or anyone else. Draco's silence is frightening almost, what is he planning now? Dumbledore is gone half the time, and Voldemort's getting stronger," Harry replied quietly, his eyes still closed. Harry liked the fact that she did make sense and actually seemed like she truly understood what he was going through, even if she wasn't going through exactly what he was going through.

He wasn't quite sure what he was thinking, but knew why. Sirius' life seemed so short, and well it could happen to Lupin, Hermione, Ron, Tonks, Kingsleym, Dumbledore, Ginny, ANYONE could go the same way. He didn't want that to happen. He wasn't quite mourning over him, just felt that he learned a lesson from Sirius' death and still was hurt over it, but not mourning.

Ginny placed her hand on Harry's shoulder, "the more you worry about the future and about Draco the worse you'll be because you'll have lost sleep and have no energy. If you live in the present rather than dwell on the past or the future you can be happy and be loved. Voldemort's worst fear is love itself. The more love you have and you share the better off you'll be, and the worse he will." She sat down a few inches away from him, just enough space to keep him comfortable, "live in the now, Harry. And the more you worry about Sirius having died and everyone else possibly dying the more likely it will happen. We'll all be safer if you enjoy yourself more. We worry about you, if you start acting like a human again we'll start acting normal and being safer, I promise."

Harry sighed opening his eyes, feeling that she made a lot more sense to him. Maybe it was nice to have someone other than Hermione and Ron who ALWAYS were saying things like 'Everything will be ok,' and well he felt he had some feelings for Ginny, well not some... a lot right now, because he was thinking of her a lot.

I guess living in the present will work for now," Harry said opening his eyes and looking at her with a smile on his face. Her beauty was intoxicating. Just amazing. Harry pushed the thought that she was Ron's sister to the front of his mind, but that didn't change his thoughts.

"Ginny, I think I'm in love with someone..." Harry paused for a second, "I don't know what to do... I think, now I'll start acting for the present, right? I'll let her know." Harry then quickly turned towards her and pressed his lips to hers and held them there for a second, then pulling back. He stayed silent, unknowing of her reaction.

Ginny's eyes close as soon as his lips touched hers and she just realished in the few seconds. She took a deep breath, trying to relax herself. She let her self be dazed for a second, "live in the present, yes, that's a good idea." She turned towards Harry and let a huge smile cross her face before throwing her arms around him. "You kissed me," she laughed in his ear, "you actually kissed me." The smile wouldn't leave her face, she just held onto Harry close and thanked Merlin that he kissed her.

Harry frowned slightly hearing her, but then saw the smile on her face. What had he just done? Ron would surely kill him. Harry let a small smile creep onto his face.

"Yes, I guess I just did..." Harry replied, "Like the living in the present me?" Really the only thing lately that had been holding him back from asking her out was his fear of the future and endangering her, and the fact she was dating another.

Ginny smiled happily, "if it finally got you to admit to yourself that you felt something, then yes." She pulled out of the hug and kissed him softly on the lips before pulling back so only a hair's width was between them, "just remember that I'm safer if you're with me than if you're not."
She let her mind soar high above her. She had been waiting since she first met him at the train station for this moment to happen. It took six years, but it was worth it. "Just remember, that now you're mine and I'm not letting you go."

Harry smiled slightly wider at the fact that she indeed was happy about what he did, and let the feeling of her soft kiss linger on his lips. Harry sighed, and looked at her with his smile.

"It's been coming for a long time," Harry replied, "Truthfully ever since the beginning of this year." He remembered the feeling of when he remembered Ginny didn't sit with them on the train, though he really wanted her. That was something he wasn't sure about yet, at least then he wasn't. Now Harry realized it was that he was slowly falling for her.

"Oh no... what have I gotten myself into?" Harry asked jokingly, and happily.

Ginny chuckled, "the worst relationship of your life," she joked right back. She closed her eyes and rested her head on his chest, thinking back to earlier in the year. "Hermione told me to move on, date other guys. You'd notice me more as a girl if you got to know me, instead of teh girl who blushed everytime she saw you. I tried to, began to date other guys, became more like your friend rather than Ron's little sister. I guess Hermione was right."

"That Hemione is so smart... she knew what to tell you. And she was right, as usual. I'm glad you took her advice, though I must say, some of the guys made me jealous," Harry replied with a smile. Dean. Micheal. All of them... or well most of them did.

Ginny chuckled, "then, Harry, it worked. I only dated Dean to make you jealous, well I did like him, but jealousy was a plus. Anyhow, we never would have worked out, he was always too over protective and wouldn't let me do even simple things without help." Remembered back to when he touched her going through the portrait hole, "I can get through the portrait myself, I've been doing it since first year." Little did Ginny know it was actually Harry. They'd never talked about that day, of course, she still didn't know when he had used the potion, which was that night, of course.

"To make me jealous? I didn't know you still liked me since you seemed to love them so much," Harry said remembering the night Dean and Ginny broke up. Memory was taken and he was happy about it. Great job on his part, managed to have Ginny break up with the guy so he could date her, though that sounded terrible, but it helped him understand Horcruxes at least.
