Tonks was pacing in her mother's living room. They were out of food again. She couldn't help it the child growing in her stomach wanted food and she hadn't told her husband. Now she had to, she was three months in and was starting to show signs that were worse than the ones in the first few months. She held her stomach, she already had a baby bump that even she couldn't hide. She had to tell him, he was going to find out sooner or later. Now had to be the time.
Her mother wasn't home, so she was there by herself. She'd said she'd be right back to her house and hadn't gone back. She just didn't know what to say and had felt her mother would understand. She patted her stomach and said, "Shh, shh, it's okay. Daddy will know.." she was whispering, just incase she was being watched. No one else knew but her, Lexi, and her mother.

Remus had been on guard duty for a good chunk of the day. Order business. Nothing fun happened. Well, if you call kids running away from him because he was a known werewolf and there had been a quite publicized story about a boy who was turned into a werewolf by Greyback, fun, then sure, he had fun. He had a few curses thrown at him by some of the braver little second and third years on a visit to Diagon Alley, but other than that, nothing really happened.
Remus apparated to Andromeda's house, expecting Andromeda, Ted, and Dora to be there. When he opened the door and only found Dora in the living room, he assumed his mother and father-in-law were out.
"How are you Dora?" Remus asked, giving her a hug and a kiss on her forehead. He had noticed she was getting a little tiny bit larger in her stomach area, but he just assumed it was because she had been eating a lot lately.

Tonks turned when she saw her husband come through the door. She hugged him back and smiled a bit. She sat on the couch with a bit of a sad look on her face. She had to say it, she really just had to put it out there.
"Have a seat.." she had her legs crossed on the couch and tapped the seat next to her, "I have to tell you something." she avoided rubbing her stomach. She actually was really happy about it but she couldn't hide it any more. Even the people at work were starting to notice a difference in her behavior.

When he saw the sad look on her face, Remus started getting worried. What would upset her like this? Her hair wasn't mousy brown, so she couldn't be that upset, right? Right? He was actually in complete inner turmoil trying to figure it out, but he casually sat down next her and gave her a reassuring smile.
"Is something wrong, Dora?" Remus asked trying to keep his worry out of his voice. It was actually quite funny how terrible Remus was at putting all these separate things he was noticing together. Maybe his subconscious was trying to not jump to conclusions, hoping that he would never be conscious of what could or could not be true.

Tonks placed both her arms around her stomach and looked at the floor. She was innerly fighting with herself of how to say it. Part of her wanted to just say it, part wanted to give hints and the other part didn't want to tell him. But she had to, she was too far along to not tell him. It was going to happen, there was no way it wasn't going to happen.
"Remus, I'm..." she started. She had to just say it. Taking a deep breath she finished what she was saying. "I'm having a baby." she exhaled with her eyes closed. She'd said it.

At first it didn't click with him. But when it did, all he did was stare at her for a good few moments. She couldn't have said what he thought she said right? No, no, no. She couldn't be having a baby. No. This couldn't be happening. Exactly what Remus was feeling at that moments was something that could not be put into words to accurately describe what he was feeling.
"W-what?" Remus managed to choke out through his complete and utter shock. "Y-you're joking right? Ha. Ha. That's funny." She had to be joking. She just had to. This couldn't be happening. No. No. If it was. And she wasn't joking... She had to be joking.

Tonks felt hurt, he thought she was joking? She wasn't, she didn't joke about stuff like this. Her jaw dropped a bit, she didn't know how to reply and her eyes stung with tears. A joke? A joke? Why would she joke about being pregnant? It was a big deal to her.
"You think I'm joking?" she had her arms wrapped around her stomach, "I wouldn't joke about this!" she really felt hurt by this.

Damn. That was the wrong thing to say, but Remus was starting to freak now. His breathe became heavier and faster. This couldn't be happening. Not now. Not to him. Not to them. It would be like him, he was sure of it. And he was the reason another would have to suffer just like he had.
"N-no. This. Can't. W-why?" Remus said breathing in between each word, "Y-you. have. Y-you're. Going... T-to..." He went silent and simply stared at her, not even noticing that she was upset, mostly because he was just told she was going to have a baby. It would freak out any werewolf.

Tears rolled down her face. Her hair turned that mousey brown it did when she was sad and she uncrossed her legs. She put one hand on what would soon be a living breathing child and the other on Remus' hand. She wanted him to see this from her side of it. She was excited about having a child and sad that he was scared. She didn't want him to be scared, she wanted him to be happy about this. It was theirs after all.
"You... you don't want it?" she choked out. The lump in her throat didn't want her to speak it wanted her to cry. "I didn't tell you because I was scared at first and then I thought you'd be happy about it and you're just... just not supporting me through this!" she crunched over with her hands on her face and started to cry. She kept mopping the tears up off her cheeks and trying to stem the flow. This was not now she pictured her big news being taken.

This was exactly a part of the reason why he didn't want to just let their relationship go any farther than friends. The child. Oh, the child. This was his fault. It was all his fault. He should have been stronger. He should have been more careful. He should never have married her because of something just like this.
"This..." Remus said taking a deep breathe before, getting off of the couch, and turning away from her, "Is exactly why should never have been together. I'm sorry." He was sorry he had to drag her down with him. He was sorry he was the child's father. He was sorry he could never be the father he always wanted to be.

Tonks stood up just to crumple to the floor. She just kept crying. Stupid hormones. She crawled and got a hold on his ankles. She looked up at him the tears still flowing, she couldn't take this. He wasn't supporting her through this. She could feel her heart starting to break, he couldn't leave her now, not now. Her dad had left because the Ministry was hunting down muggle-borns, and now her husband was too? What kind of world did they live in!?
"But... you... you promised... you promised you'd never leave me.." she cried. She was on her knees rubbing away tears. She pushed herself up into a standing position and wrapped her arms around him so he couldn't leave, "Please... don't leave me.." she whispered into his back. If he left she didn't know if she could take it, her heart might actually break.

Remus didn't turn to even look at her. It would be better for everyone if he just left. The child wouldn't have a father to be ashamed of and Dora, Dora wouldn't have to bear the burden of being married to a monster like him.
"And I warned you about being with me. This child will be like me, I'm sure of it. Our child would be better off without me," Remus said refusing to look at her. He couldn't take this. Having a child. He couldn't. He just... couldn't.

Tonks's face was burried in his back, she was getting his shirt wet with her tears but oh well! She didn't want him to leave her there by herself to take care of their child. She tightened her grip, if he moved she'd move too. She was not letting go.
"You don't know that! What if it isn't? Will you come back then?" she cried, although it was a bit muffled. "It can hear you, you know? And you're hurting it's feelings, I know because it hurts a lot worse than it would normally. And any child would be proud to have you as a father." Why couldn't he see that? Harry had even said he'd be proud to have him as an uncle like he'd said about Sirus, so why was this so difficult?

Remus was still breathing extremely heavy. He shook his head, trying to ignore the sobs of his one true love. He had to do this. He really did. No child would like him as their father. Someone little kids ran from because he was a werewolf. He couldn't allow his child to be outcasted like that. It was his child. He couldn't bare watching that and know it was all his fault.
"No child would be proud of a cowardly werewolf as a father, Dora," Remus said trying to move away from her, "If the child can really hear me, it would understand that I can't bare watching any child grow up being outcasted because of what their father was, and probably passed onto them." Why did she have to hold onto him so hard? He loved her dearly, but he couldn't stand this. He didn't know what to do when and if he left. Perhaps he could offer Harry his help. If he couldn't do anything good for his child, he could at least go out protecting Harry.

"No, don't say that!" Tonks said trying to move around to get him to look at her. She didn't mean for this to happen, maybe it would've been smarter for her to just hide it for another month. "It wouldn't be an outcast, please just look at me... You can't think like that, if you do i might die of heart break."
She kept her sullen gaze locked on his face. She was sure her mother would come in if he left, then her mother would give her the I-told-you-so-speech. Why did it have to be like this?
