Rose watched Scorp's facial expression as he thought. It didn't change much, but the ever so slight change that there was when people think made Rose smile a little bit. Clearly though, she had proved her point. They didn't know each other all that well. Part of it was her fault, as sad as Rose was to admit that. Things just sort of happened that way sometimes. She shook her head a little bit, trying to hide the small smile that was forming on her face since the balance had been tipped once again and Scorp was no longer in the 'right' side of the world, that just freaked the girl out.
Rose nodded "We really don't, and its kinda sad really." She paused briefly, realizing how much that one sentance could reveal. "However, just to answer your future career choice option, i really don't know what I want at this point. I'm stuck between a few options, but my class choices keep everything open for me anyway." She shrugged a little bit. Part of her wanted to become a healer, she liked helping people, but then she also wanted to be an auror like her Uncle and father were, but then, she also loved Quidditch, and could probably follow in her Aunt Ginny's path and become a professional Quidditch player.
She smiled a little bit at Scorps statement at her patronus. It surprised her a little bit, this softer side of him that was opening up to her. She frowned slightly though, wondering how much he knew about the butterfly in her. Did he know already that she could also turn into a butterfly herself? Would that creep the poor boy out and ruin any chances she had with him? "You know....I'm curious to know jut how much you know about me. There is tons you obviously don't, but what all do you know about me?"
Rose couldn't help but laugh a little bit at Scorp's admission that he was terrible at arithmancy. "Lots of people are actually. But again, you are right about DADA." Darn, he was right again, what was that, three in the past two minutes alone? The world must be going crazy! "Its all about the practical knowledge of spells for the upcoming battles, something I am glad we have a heads up about at least."
Rose nodded "But then there is Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny, they knew pretty quick. And for my parents, everyone else saw it, just they didn't. I mean sure, the odds are quite slim, but when you think you found it, you gotta have hope right?" She smiled a little bit, realising once again just how much she could be revealing, and knowing that she needed to shut her mouth soon or else insanity may just break out. However, maybe this would cause more of the kind Scorp to show up?

Scorp ruffled his hair to cover up his terrible thoughts that were running through his head. For some reason he helped keep his thoughts grounded. She still was with Raj, and she made it quite clear that she didn't like him. Scorp let a small frown sneak on his face, feeling angry at the thought that she loved Raj and not him. He just didn't see it. He ruffled his hair with his hand once more through his hair and let calmed himself. It was quite normal for him to ruffle his hair, and everyone knew him for it, at least those who knew him better than just, 'hey I've heard of that guy'.
"I believe that the thing that matters the most with your job is that you like it, at least have a bit of fun with it, and sometimes if you're good at what you do," Scorp replied. At least that was what his father told him, and he tended to believe his father on most things. He knew he was good at healing, a special talent of his, and really it was what made him a semi-good fighter. Any spell against him, he could counter quickly so the effects didn't always get to him. And it wasn't that he knew the counter curses, it was just that he could counter them in some way.
Ah, darn. She took his comment as such a compliment. He wasn't supposed to compliment her. That beautiful, smart, perfect... Scorp ruffled his hair again. Maybe the ruffling of the hair was because he was nervous, or feeling some sort of strong emotion at the time. He didn't care at the moment, it was really subconscious the ruffling of his own hair. "Well I know that you're the top in our class, very good at Quidditch, a great opponent in a duel. You're extremely smart, and care about so many others..." Scorp said ending it there. It was a good thing he didn't keep going. He was getting a little carried away there. He ended up ruffling hair, and not even noticing that he did.
"Ha Ha! I was right! Score for me, I believe the tally is 185 to 6, with you in the lead," Scorp said with a smile, joking of course, but having a good time feeling he had been right, which wasn't a common occurrence especially around Rose. He didn't want to talk about the upcoming battle, at least not too much. A bit there, and a bit here, that didn't matter, but he was scared as to what was to come and he didn't want to show it, and if he talked about it, he would have a hard time not showing it.
Scorp immediately felt a wave of jealousy wash over him. Could she really feel that Raj was 'the one' for her? What was so good about that guy anyway? Sure he was smart, and a year older, but to Scorp (who, by the way, was blind to any good quality besides smarts of Raj) he was just a mean, arrogant guy who stole the one he liked a lot from him. He ruffled his hair once more. "So you think Raj is the one?" Scorp said raising his voice ever so slightly, "Oh I really doubt that tub of lard could be anyone's soul mate. That ugly, horse faced, insignificant moron!"

What was with guys and ruffling their hair? It was something Rose had noticed growing up, and again now. They always did it! For some guys, it just made their hair a complete mess, for others, it tamed the mess. then for some, it just made them look better. Sure, Rose quite often fidled with her hair as well, but why did Scorp have to keep playing with his hair?
Rose listened to what Scorp was saying about his opinion about jobs. She nodded, again with him being right! She let a small sigh escape her lips. "See, that is where I am stuck. I have three possible careers, and all I love for different reasons. Heck, you could even throw in a fourth one. For you, the choice seems easy. For one, your father could get you into any job you wanted, skill set or not. But when you havea natural gift, people tend to go for that. Sure, I have smarts, but I'm not exactly naturally gifted at anything for a career." Well, unless the job was a spy... Rose could be a butterfly and spy on people without their knowing, that would be fun. But that wasn't what she wanted to do.
Rose once again listened to what Scorp was saying. He listed off the basic qualities that she has, the ones that everyone sees. Wait, was there also a compliment in there? 'Oh good, then you don't know my deepest darkest secrets," She said jokingly, knowing that he wouldn't have in the first place, but they did grow up in a small community, he could have heard or seen something while they were growing up. "But see, those are all outside qualities. Thats like me telling you that you are an amazing person who cares about others, although you try to not let it show too much, an amazing quidditch player, and great with spells and healing. Those are things that you can know about a person, and still not really know the person themselves." She paused for a moment. "Seriously though, how sad is it that with the way that us rebel kids grew up we hardly know each other as people?" Again, Rose knew that she was partially at fault for that, but she could only take half the blame.
"Really? i'm only at 185? I thought I would have been in the thousands by now!" She laughed and playfully stuck out her tongue at the boy before her. It was nice to be able to joke with Scorp, even if their friendship, if it could be called that, was a strained one. There was nothing like having a crush on someone, and the other person thinking you were dating someone else. Yes, Rose did play it up a little bit, but still, why couldn't Scorp just see through it, or fight for her? Every girl wants her knight in shining armor, couldn't Scorp step up a little and be hers?
Rose shrugged. She knew for a fact that raj wasn't 'the one' for her. He was like a brother, thats all. "I'm not a hundred percent its him," She said, although she knew for a fact it wasn't Raj, "sometimes I think maybe, but then I don't always see the fight in him when I'm hanging around other guys." there, maybe a small hint that Rose wanted someone who would actually fight for her would help Scorp step up a little? "But I know that there is that perfect someone out there. I have hope that mine is presently in my life, thats all I'm gonna say."
((muahaha, all curled up cosy in my bed, and muse strikes right as I'm ready to go to sleep. I <3 Rose and Scorp))

This time instead of ruffling his hair, he ran his hand through his hair. He was starting to get a bit nervous. Why? Well, he and Rose never really got along this well for this long. He was just waiting for something to come along. And yet, Rose didn't get angry when he had insulted Raj, which he was sure she would. He just couldn't help being jealous of Raj having the most perfect, beautiful, intelligent woman in the entire world.
"You are naturally talented at a lot of things for a career. For most jobs you have to be extremely intelligent in that field, and you know a lot about, well just about everything it seems. You're extremely talented in almost everything you do, and your family is, or became powerful, so they could get you any job you wanted," Scorp said, feeling he was rambling a bit, so he cut it a bit shorter than he had it in his head, "So really the problem wiht you choosing a job is that you could do just about anything you want, and I cannot, as I am not skilled in a lot of areas." He knew that he wasn't the brightest bulb in the box, especially when it came to History, but he had only a couple of things he was really good at, and she was good at about just about everything.
"What? Thousands? When did you earn all those points?" Scorp asked in mock surprise, obviously joking around with her. He liked joking around with her as well, even if he was extremely jealous of her. Times like this, when he wasn't feeling too jealous, was the best of times and when he saw exactly what he loved in her. The reason behind him not stepping up and sweeping her off her feet was because he feared rejection of the one he really really liked, especially since she was dating some other boy. And he was afraid of his father being mad at him for falling in love with a Weasley. Scorp was one who valued family above almost anything, and his father being disappointed in him for something that may or may not turn out good.
At least there was a chance that Rose and Raj weren't the ones, as she wasn't 100 percent sure Raj was the one. "Have you ever considered Charles Hagrid or myself?" Scorp asked, adding him in with another random name as not to arouse suspicion. She wanted someone to fight for her... maybe.... that gave him an idea. It just was a matter of time before he thought it all out.

Okay, now Rose had to tell herself to not let her cheeks show any red. He was complimenting her, like seriously complimenting her now. When did this ever happen? Rose could count on one hand the ammount of times they had converesed and not fought about something, and yet here he was telling her that she was good at pretty much everything in life! Did Hell freeze over or something? Were the planets moving in some strange orbit that was causing this to happen? Rose was confused now. Thankfully though, Rose's hair was hanging on her face, so the chances of much red showing through her already red hair was pretty slim, because Rose could definately feel her cheeks flushing.
Rose went to push some hair off her eyes and behind her ear as she normally would, then stopped herself because of the ever growing red that she was sure was still there that she did not want Scorp to see. HOw bad would it be if he knew that he had made her blush? Rose would never be able to live it down! "Wow, thanks," She said, mostly unsure about what to say to the bombardment of compliment there. 'Just cause I have my mom's brains doesn't mean I'm skilled at everything though. Believe it or not I do have to work at school sometimes. But yes, that is my problem!" Rose actually laughed a ltitle bit with that. "I want to do everything is my problem though, I can't make up my mind! I would love to be more like you, have one set gift, and run with it. Do you know how much easier my life would be if I was more like you?"
"Come on Scorp, its been fifteen years, even though tally hasn't been kept the whole time, I have to be up in the thousands!" She smirked a little bit, happy to just be joking once more. This were seeming so easy right now. Why couldn't they have always been like this, instead of rivals as their parents had been? Her father, even though she had been young, had always told Rose to be wary of the Malfoy's, and she had been. Then of course, she grew up some, and well, you can't exactly pick who you like, you can just pick to act on it or not. And boy did she want to act on it right then. He was really impressing her, esentially telling her that she could do whatever she wanted. Wehre had this Scorp been her whole life?
With what Scopr said next though, Rose's mouth practically fell off her face. Had she ever considered Charles hagrid, or Scorp, and not Raj? Oh boy, this conversation just turned slightly awkward. She had indeed considered Scorp, still was considering him. Raj is the one that never had been considered. Thes question onw though, was how could she possibly say that she had already considered, and like the idea of, Scorp, without saying 'no, not gonna happen' when she wanted it to happen, but also not giving away too much? "Hmm," She said, as if pausing to consider "I don't think I would be happy with Charles." Was all that she decided to say on that one, there was no yah or nah on the Scorp subject, should be safe, right?

Now Scorp didn't even know how in the world their conversation was going so well. He thought that by this time Rose would blow up or do something to ruin it. Well... he had to admit he ruined a fair few conversations, but he just couldn't stand being around Rose and knowing that he could never have her. Especially when Raj was around. Scorp had to admit that Raj was a good guy, and he didn't want to ruin Rose's relationship with Raj just for himself. At least she was with a decent guy, which was the whole reason behind him not trying his best to win her over. Sure he was still trying in his messed up way with the fights and getting angry around her and Raj, but he just wasn't sure. He wanted her and him to be together, forever and ever. But he had to admit if it wasn't him, Raj wasn't that bad. Not that he would say that out-loud, but at least inside his head he was safe.
He was ever so tempted to push her hair out of her face, because well... he loved seeing her beautiful face, but if he did, how would he pull off an explanation. Ah ha! He had it. He reached for her hair and pulled it behind her ear like it usually was. He missed the blush on her face, because he was too busy admiring her face's beauty. "It was annoying me," Scorp muttered in explanation. That was weak, but he could expand on it. All he had to do was BS his way through it. That was something he was pretty good at. "You would want to be like me?" Scorp said then looking down, "I don't even want to be me. It sucks being good at only one thing because then you fail at everything else. When you're good at everything, like you are, well you don't get that feeling of failing at the same level, and you can choose anything you want. And if you can't decide you can test it out and move on if you didn't like it, because you just can. If I hate being a healer, then I'm pretty much screwed." Except he might be a good fighter, in some job, like an Auror or Hit Wizard, or something. So far with his part-time job he had been having a fair amount of fun. But he was so busy he liked just relaxing.
"Maybe. I didn't count that high, hurt my brain, so I just scaled it down a bit," Scorp said with a smile. True, big numbers did hurt his brain, but truthfully he hadn't been keeping count so he just came up with some random numbers. Still it was fun just being silly for once, and around Rose, whom he was too scared to tell anyone he loved very dearly. Maybe his mood right now could be due to the fact he couldn't think of a good insult because of his sleep deprivation from all the stuff he was doing, such as his part time job, quidditch position, and his prefect status.
Ah, she avoided the question of him! That must mean something! Or... it could just mean it was so ridiculous it didn't even deserve an answer. Scorp, in his irrational state of thinking (which was his way of thinking all the time, or most), assured himself it was the latter. It almost depressed him, but he kept on going, ruffling his hair once more. "Oh yeah, Charles kinda likes Roxy doesn't he?" Scorp said trying to remember details on Hagrid, though he didn't know the guy too well. He was too quiet. "So Raj-y is your top pick at the moment. But don't come crying to me when it doesn't work out." Please come crying to me so I can pick you up and then I won't have to worry about Raj getting angry about stealing his girlfriend. Scorp thought, but he felt bad for thinking that at the same time. Raj wasn't that bad. Scorp just hated him for scooping up the one he loved before he could work up the courage to tell her how he felt.

Okay, Rose really needed to get herself together now. She didn't move the peice of hair out of her face because it was hiding the blush, then here Scorp was moving it off her face because it was annoying him! Yes, this caused her cheeks to redden once more. Fortunately for Rose though, he didn't seem to notice that small fact. As he moved the hair out of her face Rose, unknown to herself, moved her face ever so slightly to feel his hand more. Ya, she was smitten with the boy infront of her. Stupid Raj and his idea to do this to Scorp. She should have said no!
Rose smiled a little bit at Scorps statement about annoying him. "Well then, good to know my hair annoys you," Her voice was teasing, so she hoped that the tone came through to him so that he would know she was joking and not serious. She then nodded. "Yes, sometimes I do. But you are good at more than one thing Scorp. You may not be overly school smart, but you can still play a good game of Quidditch. Imagine getting paid to play a game you love. Aunt Ginny used to write about it as well, you could easily do that. You probably have the grades to become an Auror, there is so much out there." She really hated how Scorp had a small idea of what there actually was in the world for him. But she wasn't too worried about that, he seemed to love healing, so she was sure that was where he would end up anyways.
"Honestly, I didn't either," Rose said with a grin. "Its just good to know that I'm still winning." She stuck her tongue out playfully at him, again enjoying the teasing and joking going on presently. This needed to happen more often, which apparently meant ditchign Raj more often, which quite frankly, Rose wasn't exactly opposed to. She liked the guy, but of course, as a friend, nothing more. Sometimes he was more clingly that she wanted him to be, even when Scorp wasn't around. It was actually starting to annoy her, and she was considering 'breaking it off' with him soon anyways. Maybe that would push Scorp?
She nodded "Ya, something like that. Its hard to keep track of all my cousin's and who they like and don't like. Kinda confusing really." She smiled a little. It was true though, she did have several cousin's, and couldn't keep track of everything. She shrugged a little at his next statement. "He's top pick for some things, not others though." That was a completely truthful answer. Raj was absolutly top pick for best guy friend, but that was pretty much it. "But fine, I won't come crying." She woudln't cry because there isn't anything to cry about, she might go to Scorp after a fake breakup though.

Scorp was completely, completely blind right now. If someone jumped out and began messing with him, he wasn't sure if he would even tell that they were there. So far they had been so nice to each other, much like what he wanted their relationship to be, well he also wanted to date her, but he still wanted the talking and just having fun even if they eventually dated. Why couldn't he just tell her? Well, that was because he was so afraid of rejection. He could just picture her slapping him and yelling at him. And then around her would always be awkward, and he didn't want that.
Scorp laughed ever so slightly at her comment about him finding her hair annoying, though really it just got in the way of her face, and otherwise was extremely pretty. "Oh yes, I find your beautiful hair, so annoying," Scorp replied in the same tone that she used, obviously joking, except the part about it being beautiful. "I suppose, though if things turn out like they did before, I dunno the chances of being a Quidditch Player. Maybe Auror, but that's about it." Really he loved healing, and even had a part-time job as a healer. He'd liked it so far. He was just busy with the job, Quidditch and School. He was lucky to get this day off to himself.
"But I will catch up, mark my words!" Scorp laughed giving her a pretend glare, that was obviously forced on, as he kept smiling as he did it. Why couldn't they always be like this? He loved this sort of Rose. Not the one who was sucking face with Raj all the time and almost shoving her happy relationship into his face. He was really upset when she had gotten together with Raj, and really all of his hated for that boy stemmed from the fact that he was jealous, but too afraid to come out and say why.
"At least you aren't part of the Black family, yet," Scorp laughed, "My Gran was one and it means that I have a billion cousins I barely know with different last names. Ted's my 3rd cousin, that one Lestrange boy is my 2nd cousin, I think? And then somehow there's the Goyles... I think. I don't even know everyone I'm related to." Scorp had added the yet part because he was quite sure that Teddy would eventually marry into their family. The Black family was really confusing, there were so many people in it, and it didn't all make sense. But then again the problem with the Weasleys was that they all had the same last name. "Well actually, if you, er... really want to, you could come crying to me," Scorp stated rubbing the back of his neck, "I just said that for the effect, heh..."

Rose beamed at Scorp. Okay, he may have said her hair was beautiful, but still, something about her was beautiful to him. Cue the butterflies in the stomach feeling. Seriously, why couldn't things have always been this way? Less arguments, more fun teasing. It seemed so easy now that they were much older. Although, possibly thats the way things are supposed to happen. Tease each other as children, and then somehow end up together? Oh ya, Rosewas totally jumping the gun there! Scorp had only shown a little bit of interest, and that was because of her stupid joke on him! Rose was once again regretting the whole Raj thing, but again, that was more and more these days.
"So then perhaps I should cut off all my annoying but beautiful hair so that it doesn't offend you." Again her tone was joking. Rose would never cut her hair off for anyone, she loved her hair the way it was. Rose scrunched her nose a little bit to his next comment. "Thats true... I guess it would be hard to be a quidditch player if you couldn't play in the games cause of being on the run..." Rose shook her head "Things will turn out better, I'm sure of it."
Rose laughed at that statement. catch up? Maybe in a million years! Rose glared right back at him "That sounds like a challenge Mr. Malfoy. Bring it on." Rose smirked, knowing very well that according to their 'point system' by the time Scorp actally caught up they would be in their graves. Besides, Rose also loved the somewhat friendly competition that the points brought into their relationship.
Rose thought. Somewhere in the Weasley family tree, without Teddy, there were Blacks, she just wasn't sure the exact relationship. Rose shook her head a little bit "No, I'm sure there is some relation somewhere along the line. Weasley's were a pure blood family, back in the day pure bloods only hooked up with other purebloods. I'm sure there is a connection somewhere in there..besides Teddy." She grinned at the thought of Teddy "I love that guy. He's so much fun." Rose shook her head a little bit. She grinned at what scorp said next. "Aww, your so sweet." She said, trying to sound sarcastic, but not mean. That was hard to do as sarcasm was normally meant to be somewhat cruel. She actually did appreciate the fact that Scorp wanted to be there for her. "No promises on the crying part though, I'm pretty tough ya know." She put her hands on her hips for effect.

All these feelings were quite overwhelming. He wished that she would just break up with Raj, so he could have her, but then again, that wouldn't be set in stone, you know, that he would have her. But a boy could wish right? He even forgot to ruffle his hair, and hadn't done it even with all these terrible thoughts about wanting to date her, and having her love him.
He didn't want her to cut her hair! He loved it just the way it was! Unless she didn't want to be like it was now, because he would be just fine with her cutting it if that was what she wanted. However, Scorp did recognize her joking tone, so he didn't let himself freak out over it. "Yes!" Scorp said over-dramatically, joking, of course, "Then it won't be annoying." He shook his head laughing a bit. "Hopefully they will, we don't really know," Scorp shrugged.
"I will bring it! Now... I just have to recover a bunch of points..." Scorp said with a fist pump, "Such a small task!" Scorp knew that he probably wouldn't catch up, and he wasn't sure if he wanted to catch up, because then Rose would be losing, but then if he didn't, he would be losing. Hmmmm... he just had to come up with a way for both of them to win. A tie! That's what he needed!
"That's true... OH NO!" Scorp said with a smile, "That means we're related somehow!" Not that the relation somewhere out there was anything big, it was way too distant to really matter, but it did mean that somewhere along there they did have family together. "Yeah, Ted's a really fun guy. Even when everything's down, he's always there to cheer everyone up!" Scorp stuck his tongue out like a little kid at her sarcasm, taking it as jokingly sarcasm and not mean... though given their track record, he might should have taken it as mean. "I try," Scorp commented with a grin.

No matter how hard she tried, Rose simply could not wipe the smile off her face. For the first time in a long time she was feeling free. Free to express herself however she wanted, without fear of being shot down. The joking tone that was happening in this conversation was so refreshing, and she wished once more that they could have been friends from the beginning, instead of their twisted enemy but friends status that they have had. Sure, it was kinda fun, but they could still joke around like that and be competitive.
Rose began laughing at the over dramtization. "Well then, how short shall I cut it?" She moved her hand so that her hair was 'chopped' at her shoulders "This short? Or would that still annoy you?" Rose was still grinning, she simply couldn't help it. "No, I guess we don't really know, but we can at least hope that they will. Having that hope will bring us in the right direction." She was a little more serious as she spoke about this, but still kept her tone slightly light and playful, soa s not to ruin the mood they were apparently both in.
Rose nodded. Small task indeed! "And how, may I ask, do you plan on getting those points?" It was an honest question. She wasn't even fully sure where all the points come from, it couldn't just be brains, that wouldn't be fair. What an interesting dilemma.
Rose began laughing again. "Oh no, how will I ever survivie knowing that I am somehow distantly related to you? Thats the end of my world certainly." She shook her head, a smile still playing on her lips. Yes, things were quite easy between the two right now, she hoped it stayed that way. "He really is. Especially when he's bouncing around being all crazy like." She beamed at the thought. "Well, I'm glad you at least try then. It wouldn't be good if it was a fluke." Rose grinned, wishing once more that she could make him realize that there was nothing between her and Raj, that way she wouldn't have to resist the urge to hug him at a time like this.

It was actually weird, because when he was around everyone else, they always expected him to be some sort of super Quidditch Player and love the things like his father did. He had to always be good at everything, and people sometimes even suspected him of betraying the Resistance, despite him living there for his whole life. It was probably because his father had been a Death Eater once. Anyways, he had to live up to his father's image, and people expected it of him, but he felt that when around Rose, he could just relax, and not worry about being rejected. Well, rejected even more than the imaginary rejections he played out in his mind when he imagined her response if he had asked her out.
"Hmmmm..." Scorp began and he walked around her, as if examining her and thinking carefully about it, "I think just about here," Scorp placed his hand at the end of her hair, "would be just perfect." Scorp really wasn't too worried about things turning out worse than they had been. He doubted it could be worse. Unless of course everyone died in an all out war that would never end. And to think Voldemort had just been killed right before they came here. He thought all of it would just be over. "You're right. I really do hope that they... no we, can change things for the better."
Scorp grinned widely when she asked. "By winning of course! Fights, Arguements, Homework, Contests, things like that," Scorp answered. Maybe he could win her over, and then that would win him some points. Well it would definitely feel like a win even without points.
"And mine as well. Oh darn. What will I do with this new information?" Scorp asked playfully, still grinning from ear to ear. He really did enjoy this time right now. At least she wasn't talking much about that guy she was dating. He hated and envied Raj. "Always the crazy one , Ted is." Scorp couldn't help but like th thought that she sounded actually at least a bit happy that he was trying to be sweet. He just normally wasn't that good at it, and it always came out wrong. "Of course I try. Just doesn't come out right sometimes," Scorp said tempted to hug her right now, and almost gave into the temptation, but he kept himself from doing that.
