"No, you've fixed a lot of things. Think about it, if there wasn't you, then who would take over for your mum when she died?" Jake began feeling like she was being unreasonable, but then again, it was Harper they were talking about, and she did have moments like this, "Who was the one who kept your mum's memory alive? Reminding people for those who died isn't a bad thing, it's a way to keep them alive in everyone's hearts, and hearing about them, revives their feelings for those people, and while it hurts at the beginning, the memories of good times and joy, feel great. As for your sister, well that's how sisters are, and more so with you two, because you took up to role for your mother. As for me, without you, I'd be lost. I haven't opened up to very many other people, and you are the one who I consider the one who has helped me stay on my path all these years. Without you, I probably would've succumbed to my family's teachings."
Jake hated when she thought of herself as little, when in fact, she had kept him on this path, and not let him become a monster like everyone else. There were times when he almost agreed with him, and the only reason he was talked out of it was because of Harper. She underestimated the effect she had on him.
"I'm not telling you this because you want to hear it," Jake said looking at her face, into her eyes, "I'm being completely honest. I really truly think that I love you."

She hid her face in his chest again when tears stung at her eyes. She tried very hard to be strong. Her mother had been. She'd only seen Eliza cry a few times in her entire life; one of them had been when Harper's uncle Niko had died. Harper had to be similar to Eliza at least in that regard. So many others had died; it wasn't fair if Harper cried just because her mother had. It was to be expected with the lives they lead, and at least Eliza had died in her bed. Harper's godfather, Harry, had sat with her mother all the way up to the end, as she remembered. In those last few hours of her life, Eliza had still smiled and requested that they bury her next to her elder sister, Brielle.
"Thank you...I know that I'm hard to deal with sometimes. Thank you for bothering with me. And only we would confess by saying that we think we love each other," she added with a laugh. "Where do we go from here, Jake?"

Jake couldn't help, but smile a bit, looking over at Phineas' unconscious body for a second before looking back at her hugging him. He thought that as soon as Phineas had cornered her, it would be the worst day in his whole time ever to spend on the Earth. However, he was pleasantly surprised when he stood up to Phineas. It felt empowering and right.
"I should be thanking you, for putting up with me and my family," Jake responded before adding, to answer her question, "Well, if you would like, we could always go to Hogsmeade. As soon as Phineas wakes up, word will spread about my 'betrayal', so it would be safe to just hang out as friends." So, both of them narrowly avoided being killed by Phineas, and here he was suggesting to just go out, on a sort of date/hang out in Hogsmeade. How lame was that?

She laughed softly, looking up again with a faint smile on her face and raising en eyebrow. Typical Jake. They both almost get killed and he wants to hang out. She'd always known that if the chance evey arose, though, that would be what she wanted, too. The issue would be explaining the entire situation to her sister. Etta would probably flip out; Harper would've, too, in that situation. It was fair.
"It's a date, then," she decided. "But we should probably get out of here before he wakes up and flips out again."

She was quite right about getting out of there before Phineas woke up, because then they might be facing the same situation without the element of surprise. If word somehow spread to his mother... he didn't even want to think about the consequences, he'd have to come up with something for the summer. It wasn't anything he couldn't handle. His whole family hunting and coming after him; that wasn't too bad, right? Not to mention Voldemort wanting to kill him even more because he was his son. That is if somehow Voldemort found out where they really were from.
"Yeah, plus, I heard in this time there are huge spiders roaming around," Jake added looking down at his cousin, almost feeling sorry, but not that sorry as he just tried to kill his new girlfriend. Hey, he had a girlfriend now! "Let's go," Jake said with a smile, turning to go out of the forest.

"Gah...I hate spiders," she mumbled with a shiver as she followed Jake out of the forest. "I got bitten by one as a kid; not fun."
She glanced over her shoulder at Phineas and briefly wondered if they should move him before dismissing the notion. He'd tried to kill them! She was sure that he'd wake up soon and be fine. It was impossible to kill him. She'd know; she'd been trying for years.

"Oooo, I bet it wasn't fun. Spiders are not cool," Jake agreed placing and arm around her waist, before looking back for a second more, "Should we, kill him or something?" That was something about him that he was very different than others on. He wouldn't hesitate to kill someone, unless they were an actual friend or something. But, hey, he turned out alright, right?
It was amazing he turned out the way he did with only the not really caring part when killing. He hated torture, and didn't agree with those on his family's side of the war. Don't get the wrong idea, he wouldn't kill just anyone, just those who threatened him or those he cared about with death, or something similar. And usually in defense or to get rid of someone that posed a huge threat.

"No...it wouldn't be right," she decided. "Call me silly, but I have a sense of honor. Trust me, I want him dead, just not like this."
She guessed that it had something to do with her mother's ingrained sense of honor. Eliza would never have forgiven her if she had killed him there, like that. Even if the Eliza Beilschmidt that existed in this time wasn't her mother, Harper just couldn't stand the thought of disappointing her mother. It was unthinkable. Normally, she wouldn't have any qualms about killing someone, but not a downed man.

"Ok... We'll just leave him, then," Jake replied trying to put his cousin out of his head, and out of his worries, so he could go on being lame and going on a date right after such a revealing event. "Oh! Is there anywhere in particular in Hogsmeade you wish to go?" Maybe he could write about this event with Phineas for his stories later!
Jake was just worried that, even if he was a downed man, when Phineas came to consciousness, then he might harm one of them. He didn't care if they were defenseless at the moment. He had learned that those who posed a threat, even if for a moment were defenseless, they wouldn't show mercy if it was you, and therefore would pose a threat as soon as they were no longer defenseless. But, seriously, that was probably just his Lestrange, Slytherin, sides of him talking.

"There's this place called the Lollipop Cafe that I love!" she admitted with a laugh. "Of course, me and sweets."
She'd always loved sweets, as long as she could remember. Even as a child, Jake had been able to talk Harper into showing him how she turned into an eagle with the promise of candies. She still resented that a little bit, but only a little. It hadn't been that big of a deal, really.

"Ah candy, a currency for Ms. Harper Liven," Jake laughed, "I would love to go there!" If he had enough money. He was actually pretty sure he had quite a bit of money on him still. He just worried because he'd look tacky if he didn't have enough. Still, he probably did.
Candy, while Jake was as fanatical about it, he did like it. He remembered as kids he would bribe her with candy. If he had candy, it was like paying her to do something. Remembered how cool he thought it was to see her turn into an eagle, and how he would go to the candy store each week, tricking his parents into giving him money, and then he'd bribe her to turn into an eagle. Fun times.

She wrinkled her nose up and stuck her tongue out at him. So what if it was true? He was deserving of it.
"Candy is good!" she insisted. "C'mon! My sister's friend Lisette runs the place; she's really nice."
Explaining her and Jake to her kid sister later would be...fun. Well, maybe fun wasn't the proper word. Etta would probably freak out and scream at her. She did that a lot. Her sister really was prone to spazz-attacks.

"Ok, ok, lead the way," Jake said chuckling at her sticking out her tongue. Even if they had just been dating for what, a couple of minutes or so, he was already liking this relationship. It was a lot better than Phienas' and Astrid's, those two seemed unhappy some of the times, but that could just be how Jake saw it. Phineas could be perfectly happy with her, fighting a lot, unstable when Sigmund was around, but Jake knew he wouldn't like a relationship like that.
At least he didn't have the difficulty of explaining it to his family. He had no siblings, Phineas already knew, and he was sure to spread it around. If he had to tell them, he'd have to leave them a note and run away as far as he could. He did not want to see his parent's reaction.

She laughed and took his hand, tugging him in the direction of Hogsmede. She hadn't really had a boyfriend before (she was far too busy working), but she was trying. She hoped that trying counted...
"My sister is going to have a spazz-attack," she noted. "You've never met Etta, have you?"
Like their father, Etta preferred to not take sides. It lead to her only knowing Jake by reputation, which was not the best thing.

If you really thought about it, Jake hadn't really dated before. There was a couple of girls he tried it out with, but they were all those girls approved by Phineas, and one could guess how those ended. Usually the girl discovered his beliefs and tried to spread word, but Phineas always played them off as crazy girls and they were then outcasted for being mean to the son of the Dark Lord. He was actually happy to have his best friend as a girl friend, because he already had the foundation, right? That was a good start.
"No, I haven't," Jake replied with a laugh, "But I've heard a couple tidbits of a story about her, here and there."
Jake hoped that Harper's sister didn't see him as an evil guy who was just like all of the rumors. In fact, he was extremely helpful to Harper and the Resistance. Being the son of the Dark Lord had its benefits if one was a spy for the other side.
