Remus loved his son very much, but he still was debating on his decision to come back. That would have to wait until he saw his son and realize how he could never live without the boy, though he knew that he couldn't live without Tonks already. How could he make his son bear the stigma he had bore himself for so many years? Either way, he wasn't going to voice these things, because he was sure that Tonks did know of them already, but he was staying, and was sure he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. "Of course; as soon as I can, I will take care of our little Teddy Bear as soon as I can. I can't let you carry all the weight all the time," Remus replied with a smile.
"If only one of us can survive," Remus said fiercely, not budging on this point, "I would not be able to live with myself if you were to die, especially if it were to be because of me. I've lost everyone else, I'm not going to loose you or little Ted too." He couldn't even think of life without her, without knowing she was alive, or without knowing if she was in trouble or not. He had lost everyone, everyone knew that. He should have at least one person who wouldn't die on him. He would try his best to make sure of that.
"We always have Harry to do that," Remus commented with a small laugh before he turned more serious. Actually, yes, he would trust him more if he has bled to death. But James was right, he did need allies right now. The Order was spread extremely thin these days. However, when James said that he was James Potter, Remus stared at the boy. He couldn't be James. James Potter was dead. Volde- You-Know-Who (apparently he was censoring his thoughts as well, now) killed him, along with Lily. He saw their bodies. He saw James's body lowered into the ground, in Godric's Hollow, as the last of their friends remaining loyal to them (at least he thought it at the time). It was as clear as day to him that James was not alive. And yet some kid who looked so very much like James claimed to be him. Could James have really traveled from the past to the present to help them? How could that even have happened? And how would James know when to come to anyways? What was he really here for? Was he truly his friend? Had he really one more of the Marauders? Could he truly be so lucky?
Remus remained silent for a few moments thinking everything over. When he finally did speak up, his voice was hesitant, and seemingly calm, besides the hint of excitement that James really could have come back. "I do not know you, therefore I cannot trust you," Remus began slowly, "I cannot believe that you are James Potter. James Potter is dead. You can't just go around spouting names of those you know I trusted once before, or were close to me, and expect me to trust you. And... don't mention that traitor's name in front of me." He nearly spat the last part. He couldn't stand even thinking about the traitor. How that traitor betrayed their trust, how he and his friends took him in and mad him a friend, showed him how a family worked outside of his home. And how did he repay them? He got James killed, and blamed Sirius, leaving Remus all alone to deal with all that had been ripped away from him so suddenly. The traitor was the reason he was all alone. No, that wasn't fair. He wasn't the only one ruined because of it.
Harry looked at the boy before him. "Why are you here, Dad?" Harry asked, because he was fairly sure it must be his father. From the time he had seen his father in the Mirror of Erised so long ago, it seemed his memory was a bit foggy, which made this boy seem more like his father than he might have otherwise. "I-I mean...." Harry cleared his throat and tried to clear his mind in order to think straight, "It's a good thing we're not dead." Of course it was a good thing! If he could slap himself right now and not look even more loony, he would. "I'm sorry... Who exactly are you?" Harry asked, managing to ask something intelligent.
When James had begun his acupuncture, James really was helping Harry out. It felt actually not awkward, but somewhat good, helping relieve his pain somewhat. "Yeah, actually, I do feel a bit better," Harry said, sighing on the inside he managed to say something that didn't sound stupid. Perhaps he really was regaining his intelligence. Remus watched as James was helping out Harry, with fascination. Could it really be James? Everything this boy did was just like Remus remembered James being like. Maybe he was just a good imitator.
Remus looked at Dora and then back at James. "I don't think you could do anything, even if you wanted it," Remus commented, still holding James's wand in his hand. Actually, he hadn't examined the wand yet. Perhaps it was just like his James's wand, and if it was, he could check where James's wand was now, and see if it was still there, and then James would be confirmed as his James.

James again couldn't stop listening in on the Lupin couple's conversation. Nymphadora's seat was just a few feet away from the couch he was leaning on after all. They were really a great couple, he had to admit. Exactly how he hoped he and Arabelle would be someday. He felt sad though to know for a fact that their hopes were in vain. None of them would survive unless he and the other future people could somehow reverse that situation. He was about to try anyway on his part. Success was another thing altogether though.
"Don't forget about me. Never botched up a catch…" James declared with a smile after raising his hand to call the couple's attention as they were talking about Teddy and him learning Quidditch skills. It's true that Teddy was six years older than James and even though he hadn't taught his honorary older brother anything, they did train a lot together and improved on their skills that way. The same went for his siblings and some of his cousins as well. Being fast with one's hands, and thus one's wand, could be the difference between life and death in their way of living. Quidditch training was a way to develop that and it was encouraged for the camp's children after a certain age.
Off course there would be resistance to his declared name, but since he had already spoken too much James was now out of options. He'd have to use all his relayed knowledge of events regarding his grandparents and his ability to convince others in order to prank them to pull this off. He had to, at least, get Harry to trust him enough to take him along when he returned to wherever he, Ron and Hermione currently were located. That was crucial to his plan to help his dad. "Things are only considered impossible until they happen. Just because you don't believe me, it doesn't change the fact that I am James Potter." He spoke in a level tone of voice to both Lupins. It was the truth. That was his name after all.
"If Remus doesn't offend me again, I won't speak in that tone again, Tonks. It's a deal breaker for me." James offered, smiling mildly in the end. Her threats didn't scare him. James knew the character of the Lupins and neither of them would attack a disarmed boy incapable of defending himself or that was what they thought anyway as they had no idea he could summon his wand back to his hand at any moment he wanted by use of his telekinesis. That was not something they needed to know right now anyway.
"It's OK, Tonks. You're forgiven. Certainly not the first pregnant woman I've ever seen. By the way, try patting your belly and saying silly things to Ted. Babies usually respond well to that. I guess they feel loved and then rest in peace in the safety of their mommy's bellies. He'll certainly have more troubles out here than in there. He'll be missing the cozy, safe place in no time." James said to Nymphadora's comment on her behavior and the tone of her reply to him.
"Still thinking about forgiving you though, Moony. That was a low blow you just gave me and you keep insisting on it to make matters worse… By the way, I won't mention the rat's name if you don't keep comparing me to him. There is simply no basis for such!" James said towards Remus. He really did feel offended by his distrust. The last person in the world who would do any person in this room any harm was him and he was getting all that crap. It made him furious, but he had to control himself not to slip up again.
James' attention returned to Harry when his father spoke to him again. He was buying the whole him being his gramps story more than anybody else. He felt for his father, at least James had his father with him while he grew up, even though they weren't as close as he would've liked nowadays. Maybe this was a chance to continue building that relationship from where they had stopped years ago. It didn't matter who would occupy each role in James' mind, not as long as they had the chance to bond as a father and a son should. "Oh!" He interjected with a big smile. "I'm here to help you, Harry. Why else would I be here?" He was no longer whispering to Harry like before, but speaking in a normal tone, which meant that the Lupins could hear him clearly.
"Sure." James said still holding his father's hand between his own. He wanted to give Harry a bit of his strength, though he was a bit air-headed himself because of his own injury. "It's always better to be alive." He replied kindly. "Well, haven't I answered this one before?" He offered as a reply to the who are you question. "OK. I guess you want to know how I got here, right?" He asked and upon Harry's positive reply, he continued telling his story. Most of it was the absolute truth.
"Well… I had just had one of those big fights with Lily, you know, when you just explode like a volcano on each other's faces? Happens when two strong personalities clash. Ah. Just because we love each other, it doesn't mean we always see eye to eye… Though our fights always end up in kisses and hugs anyway." He started to explain what had happened. Though he was talking about Lily, his sister, and their fight was sibling stuff. Intense, but not serious. "After she left me there alone because she was mad at me, a big bright white ball thingy appeared out of nowhere. I was just so glad that Lily was gone. I threw every single spell I know at that thing to no avail. It just kept coming my way until the bright lights surrounded me completely…" He continued, his emotions at that moment showing through his tone of voice. James went on to describe the bright light he saw having no idea that they were a lot like the ones casted by the device Remus, Nymphadora and Fred had uncovered in Antarctica some time ago.
"Then the bright light was gone and I wasn't dead, which was great, mind you, but I still had to figure out what had just happened. I knew where I was though. The castle is unmistakable. I was in the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest, facing Hogwarts." He could recognize the place at the time by the stories told by the older adults about the school. It was a bit frightening to just find himself there, alone to top it off, and not knowing how he ended up there. "Well, I just entered the castle to find out what was happening and I saw a bunch of faces I couldn't recognize." Yep, he had the unpleasure of meeting first with a group of Slytherin students and also not very known Death Eaters on his time, which explained the total lack of recognition.
"Long story short, Harry. It didn't take too long for people to start mistaking me for you and calling me by your name, which kind of freaked me out because I wasn't understanding anything, so I charmed my eyes for everyone to see they were hazel upon first sight and then when the identity error was cleared most of them just spilled the beans with no effort on my part in asking at all, including all the gory details about the whole Potter family history or should I say tragedy?" James said a bit indignant with the careless way people told him about his family history. They were talking about his grandparents for crying out loud. "So I figured things out the worst way possible, but I can say I'm situated now and I can walk well in this time just like in my own." He said with a stronger and more determined tone of voice.
"I'm just so frustrated by the fact I've missed the opportunity to meet Sirius for just a couple of months…" James said in a weak and disappointed tone of voice. He really wanted to have met his namesake. He also knew that would bring a reaction from his conversational partners. "I'm sorry, Harry." He continued in a guilty tone while holding his hand more strongly. "The truth is I've arrived here in the 2nd September 1996 and I've tried to keep the lowest profile possible since then until I felt confident to show myself up. I didn't want to cause you a heart attack or anything like that." That was one of the reasons why he kept himself out of Quidditch and kind of just hanged on the far corners of the room during classes. Something totally out of his usual behavior at home in the future. He was more identifiable than his siblings. They got it easy with the whole time travel thing, not that he was jealous of them at all, he was actually glad they could just live on normally in this time.
"Can you forgive me? I also wasn't idle during all this time. I think I could help you with something you still seem to lack, Harry. That whole Ministry incursion was such a botched up… thing. Looks like I used to give more thought to plan my pranks than you did to plan that." It was so hard for James to believe that his father planned an incursion on which he was, in his point of view, so easily caught on the act performing. The man who taught him everything he knew about planing an action, ability he usually tested to plan his pranks at the camp, would never even green, let alone think up, such, as he had just said, botched up thing because things go wrong for a reason, usually lack of good planing.
"I'm not officially an Auror like Tonks is, but I can say that I understand these things well enough and when you're on the field having to best your opponent, there are only two rules you must always follow. One. Be not seen. Two. If you're seen, be not understood. This simply won't do. V is everything but a stupid man. You can't just yell your true intentions to the four winds like this… Don't get me wrong, Harry. I'm not scolding you. I don't even have that right… I'm just saying what someone should've told you a long time ago. All war is like a chess game. The one who thinks ahead and places his opponent where he wants him to be is the one who wins in the end and you know that's not what you're doing…" It was hard for James to say that to his father. He was his hero, his protector for a good part of his life. Now he looked down at the boy who became his fortress and saw someone who desperately needed someone else to help him do what he was unprepared for and yet being forced to do. It was a surreal situation to say the least. James just felt a tear fall from his right eye over Harry's wrist not covered by his hands.
James nodded at Tonk's words, his eyes were still watery, though holding everything in now. "Yeah. We're the good guys. Noble by default. Maybe that's why we always end up dead…" He replied dejectedly. "I'm not saying I don't agree with what you said or that it wouldn't be my chosen course of action too. It's just that… well, what I've said is true too…" He continued in basically the same way.
James looked at Remus and managed to open a playful and mischievous smile when he mentioned he couldn't do anything even if he wanted because he still had his wand. There was no defiance in his stance even though that was the first time James was separated from his wand for so long. It was still close by, just a few feet away, but his father had told him that he should take good care of that wand and never break it or loose it because it was very special.
James had always known that the wand Harry had given him when he was 11 wasn't a new one. That it had once belonged to another wizard or witch, but not which one exactly. Rarely camp kids got new wands. Everybody usually inherited ones that belonged to the deceased members of the Resistance. James knew though that his wand's previous owner was someone who was very important to his father as the pride he saw in his eyes as he started to grow into his magic handling that wand was visible for anyone with two working eyes and minimum perception. This was the reason why James never minded it not being new. That wand responded to his inner magic, including his telekinetic gift, like no other object in the world, so definitely it was his wand now. James had no doubts about it.

Tonks chuckled. She loved their slow growing family, it was hopefully going to be alright after this. She wanted to raise Teddy right, teach him how to control his magic as a kid, show him everything she knew about muggle things, everything she could. And then maybe, hopefully, they'd have a daughter too? She would love to raise a little girl, not that she wouldn't love Teddy just as much! "Trust me, he'll be lighter once he's out. And I'll still have a little bit of the weight left."
"I won't be able to look at Teddy with out seeing you, it'd hurt too much." Tonks shook her head. She moved her hair out of her face and said, "Ted would always wonder and think I didn't want him. Neither of us want that. Lets just say we'll both live and go with it so we don't continue this and be happy!" she chuckled and tried to smile. She didn't want to run worry through out everything.
"Either Harry, or Charlie, or Bill, or any other names I need to come up with?" she crossed her arms and pursed her lips. There were a lot of quidditch players that she knew, most had gone to school with her even!
"But how can you be alive? That's my question." then he answered the question and she shook her head, "I still don't buy it. There is no possible way for you to be alive." then she remembered. They'd seen the same kind of thing in Antarctica, then again in Africa. "I'm just spit balling here but what he's explaining sounds like those things we saw in the Sahara and Antarctica. Both I was scolded for, for wanting to go through and check it out." Tonks deadpanned.
"Rubbing my stomach and talk funny to it? Never thought of that." Tonks looked pleased. "Hey! I have better aim than you do! I could hit my target." she put her hands on her hips. "I can still fight better than the two of you, and I'm carrying another person's weight! Don't. Tell me. What. I am. And am not. GOOD AT!" she screamed the last part becaure she was having another mood swing and they were just making it worse. She started cursing in Italian. Most of it would get her in trouble with a superior but there were none of them around currently and she was angry. No one told her what to do. Her hair started to cycle between fire and red and her eyes were just the colors of fire. If they told her to calm down, she probably would have thrown something. She hadn't even noticed the smaller objects around the room start hovering slightly above their places.

Remus was too busy trying to sort out his feelings for Teddy, than even looking at perhaps having another child. Underneath it all, Remus was just as scared as when he left, but he was trying to stay strong, as strong as he could for Dora, because he loved her very much and he needed her, because life without her would be worse than he ever had before, even worse than right after he had lost all of his friends. That was saying something. Deciding it was not the time for anything that was less than pure comments, he added, "No matter if you have a little bit extra from before, you'll always be beautiful to me." At least he went for the sort of thing he would say in front others and it be a little bit oddly phrased than what he had immediately thought.
"I do hope the two of us are able to get out of this alive," Remus replied, and it wasn't because he was trying to live on because he was scared of death, but for Dora, because it would make her happy if he were to survive. And for Teddy, because he didn't come back just to die on Teddy to leave him without a father anyways. Him being here was because it made the love of his life, and his future child happier, and that was all that he wanted to do.
"Except for the drop of '75," Remus noted before he even realized it (and his mistake because the drop was in '74), because James really did seem so much like his James, "Well, James's drop anyways." He still didn't believe James, despite the fact that he truly wanted to believe that James was back. Remus had believed that no one would ever return to him, but then Sirius came back, and he then learned of the greater loss he had with Peter, the betrayal, and how it was his friend's fault he lost everything at that time. He couldn't have the great luck of finding the one whom he loved more than anything in the world, and his old friend whom was dead. He never had such luck, at least for years.
"Prove that you are James Potter and I will believe you," Remus said looking at James's wand, before he noticed something quite familiar about it. He looked back up at James, with a frown on his face, trying to hide the bubbling hope and anger if he was lying about being James inside of him. "Your wand... It's James's... Where did you get it?" He wasn't sure yet how he should address James, because he wasn't sure it was truly him. He truly hoped it was James, because then he could have one of his friends back, and his luck wouldn't be as terrible as he thought it was, cursed by his condition and just natural bad luck.
"I will use that tone until I know who you are. I do not take kindly to those who lie and try to wriggle their way into my trust to just crush it and leave me down," Remus replied. He had been betrayed by Peter and it cost him all of his happiness for many years, until he met Dora. If he had just realized it was Peter and not Sirius before they had died, he might've been able to prevent their deaths, and Sirius's imprisonment. But Peter was so innocent, and he never would've thought him the spy, while he did trust Sirius, he didn't trust Sirius's maturity.
"The bright lights..." Remus muttered to himself before he looked towards Dora, "Antarctica? Africa? Do you think...? There would be a paradox, but it could have happened in theoretical temporal magic, I suppose. We didn't know what they were, you could've been hurt." Remus had connected the dots between the things they had found on the two continents, and how it was a huge bright light, just before Dora had mentioned them. Perhaps when they were activated in the past, it took random people and brought them to the future. But that would create a terrible paradox, unless there were two copies of the person, and one lived on in their time, and the other came here. That would take a lot of magic that wasn't invented yet, and was very complicated, even when Remus knew just a little on the mechanics of temporal magic. Anytime they were to see another of those things, he would make sure to investigate it even more thoroughly.
"What? What about this light? You two have seen something? I think I'm out of something here," Harry stated, confused. He didn't like being left out of the loop. He liked to know what was going on, and right now he didn't understand.
"Sirius... I wish he could've seen you too," Harry replied, trying to forget about losing Sirius. "You would've helped me. Why show up now of all times and not last year when you could've helped keep Dumbledore from being murdered? I mean sure, I've made mistakes, but I've tried my best at everything I've done. I wasn't ready to go off on my own. I wasn't ready to lose Dumbledore." There was a sense of resentment and almost blame in his voice, as if he was blaming James for not being there for him for over a year, just because his reaction would be of disbelief? Maybe he should question it, but at the same time, he didn't want to think too hard for now, and he felt a connection with the boy, probably due to James's attitude and look.
"I still do not trust you, but I suppose you did prove yourself today out there about your skills with a wand," Remus commented, holding onto James's wand, still, just in case, because James was not to be trusted, until it was clear that he was who he said he was. That smile was so much like James, it almost made him want to run up and give him a hug like one would to a brother they hadn't seen in a long time. "I do appreciate your help, but you cannot deny why it is hard to believe you. I have been betrayed one too many times and lost everything that I loved at that point. I do not wish someone else to betray me and have it cost me those I love now." He smiled slightly back at James, and looked towards Dora with a smile as well, before returning to James. He couldn't bare it if he had lost those he loved this time around. He barely survived the first time around and this time he had a wife and child to love as well as Harry and the Order whom were like family to him. It wasn't just Peter who had betrayed him, but also Snape when he killed Dumbledore, who was like the patriarch of the Order family.

Post by James "Jay" Prewett on Feb 17, 2013 23:45:42 GMT -5
James just kept listening the couple's conversation. Sometimes he couldn't hope but to smile at them. Possibly they weren't even paying attention to him or what he was doing in such a minimal way. Sure if he tried something brusk like moving towards his wand, they would certainly notice and react fast. James, though, had no wish to do it yet. He hoped Remus would return it to him out of his own volition. It was important for him to gain their trust and he meant them no harm anyway.
When the drop was mentioned, James remembered a passing comment made by Kingsley Shacklebolt in the future during one of his Quidditch games in the Resistance camp with other camp kids. He let the quaffle drop once in that game due to having his attention on attendee Arabelle Malfoy instead of his teammates. Then he just placed twice more effort to win the game by scoring for his team and managed. He mixed and matched Shacklebolt's comment, some other knowledge he had and his own experience in that game to reply to Remus.
"You just have to bring that up every chance you get, don't you, Remus?" He asked, his tone was trying to sound upset, but the jocose undertone was obvious. "A guy can't make one mistake in his otherwise flawless Quidditch career? By the way, you made a little mistake there yourself, my friend. The famous… or infamous drop was in the game before Christmas, thus still in '74. But you got it right, it was in fourth year… I got distracted for a single moment looking at a red other than my teammates' uniforms one… And that was enough time." He said as a reply. Hopefully his throwing green wouldn't cause his strategy to go down the drain. It was all well based though and it could be true for all he did know. Also, the way James delivered his reply was very natural as if he was actually talking from experience.
"What can I possibly do to prove myself as you wish that my words, my attitude and my fighting style haven't already, Remus?" James asked because he wanted to know. He also just remembered an important thing and was right now even happy for his recent blood loss. "Just don't ask me to turn into a stag right now. I don't have physical conditions at the moment… unless you want me to die again, which I like to believe isn't true. Well… I could cast my patronus, but I need my wand for that… It's a stag too, just like my animagus form…" He kept saying everything he knew that was more emblematic of his grandfather. His patronus, just like his father's and grandfather's, was a stag too, so that he could actually do, unlike the animagus transformation. That didn't mean that James wasn't skilled in Human Transfiguration, he just never saw the need to pursue the animagus ability. Had he a friend like Remus, things could be different though.
James opened a huge smile when Remus confirmed something that he had wondered since he was eleven. That his wand was indeed his grandfather's previously. He was just feeling so honored right now. He was sure to give that wand the respect that it deserved, even more than he ever did before. To his current companions, his smile could be taken as the conclusion of an obvious fact. "My father gave it to me when I was eleven. It's wonderful for Transfiguration work! Well… you did see how I brought down my first Death Eater. That was pure Transfiguration. Conjuration more precisely…" It was the pure truth right there. "It was bought at Ollivander's in Diagon Alley." That was a guess based in likelihood. "What else can I say, Remus?" He asked in his typical mischievous way.
"Betray you is far from my intention." James replied to Remus as he again distrusted his intentions. "Maybe Dumbledore was right. It would've been better if I just had kept helping you from the shadows without ever showing my face. Just popping up like this on you is not being easy on any of us. You're not believing me, I'm hurt, Harry's hurt, you're hurt. Everybody is hurting. I'm sorry." He continued. His dad only advised him not to go meet with his younger self ever and gave him his trademark bad consequences if you do it look, but it was Dumbledore that had said that showing himself to those who had known his grandfather would only bring them further pain since he wasn't that James no matter how alike they were.
"Yeah. Sure. Babies love that, Tonks." James replied to Tonk's confirmation of his earlier suggestion on how to deal with Teddy's tantrums. Again James just decided to hear what the Lupin couple was saying. He had no idea how the future people had time traveled and what they were saying could hold the key to what had happened to them. It meant that it was the work of someone and thus that it could be reversed. It would be a big problem if that happened before all was settled with Voldemort. Maybe it was best not to talk about it. James also noticed Nymphadora entering another mood swing. His experience told him that the best way to disarm such situation was trying to say something funny so her mood would swing to a better place again.
"You know, Moony? She has a point. She, pregnant, managed to put one Death Eater down while you… Geez, what happened to you out there? That's not the Remus I used to know." James said in a funny way. He hoped Remus wouldn't be offended by his words and would understand the reason why he was saying that. The objects hovering nearby didn't escape his senses, even because he was taught by his father to always be paying attention to everything around him. "Though, me and my boy were the undeniable heavy hitters in that skirmish. Two Death Eaters for each. Two and a half for me if we count distracting Bellatrix…" He kept talking in that typical James way. He was just having a good time joking around a bit and not actually boasting. That wasn't the tone of his speech at all.
James had to confess that he shared in Harry's sentiment when it came to not knowing about the origins of the lights. "I also haven't been told about these devices before, Harry. I guess Dumbledore just forgot to mention them to either of us, even though it is of direct importance to me at least." James said ironically. He knew that Dumbledore had never told his father the whole truth and thought it was time to open his eyes about that fact. "Actually Dumbledore never told anyone the whole truth. He knew I was here from the day I've arrived and didn't tell any of you about it. He also forgot to mention that he was already dying due to a curse that struck his hand while he was in the process of destroying a horcrux. That it was one of Snape's potions that kept him alive and without feeling absurd amounts of pain until the day he chose to die the way he chose to die. The real fact is that even if the Death Eaters had never managed to enter Hogwarts, Dumbledore would still be dead by now. He just would've suffered like a dog before leaving us and wouldn't have placed Snape on V's good books so he could become headmaster this year and not expel every single ally of yours from Hogwarts' grounds, Harry. This is more important to this war effort than any of you think." James just threw everything he knew in the ventilator. If they believed or not was another matter.
"Anyway, the genie is out of the bottle and you were never alone throughout the time I've been here, Harry. Remember all the times during last year when someone from the shadows came to help you and your friends when needed? That was me all the time. You need to keep in mind I knew nothing about who you were by now. I had to learn a little before we could have this talk. I had to be sure that my instinct to show myself to you was righter than Dumbledore's counsel to stay hidden. He knew you, I didn't. I only had my heart to guide me and I should've trusted it more." James revealed. His dad would kill him if he knew he had interfered on some events of his life. He didn't think it was that important or that disruptive to the timeline. He hadn't done anything really big until today. It was also truth that James had no idea who his father really was during this time period before getting here. Sure, certain things never change about someone, but others had certainly done so. He could see that clearly now.
"I'm sure you always did your best. You're a Potter. We aren't ones to place just half of our hearts on anything…" James said to sheer up his dad a little while holding his hand a bit stronger. "I swear that from now on, I'll be there by your side for whatever comes your way. I'll be the one who will help you. All my experience in planning and going around undetected, I'll pass on to you as we go. It's only natural really and it would've been this way for a long time if… I'm not one to desire anyone's death, Harry… but when the time comes, I'll repay the honor given to me myself. I don't want you to have to do something like that. It doesn't have to be that way. I know. We just need to deal away with all the horcruxes and then it's with me. I'll free you and your future family from this nightmare even if it's the last thing I do here before being pulled back to my time to face my destiny." James promised to his father that he'd be like the fourth component of his tight friends group.
"Thanks, Remus. It means a lot to me that at least you think of me as a skilled wizard." James replied to Remus' compliments on how he had fought in the skirmish. "I get where you're coming from. Yes, I do. Even though this won't prove that I'm me, it'll prove that I'm by your side through fire and water. There is only one thing that V would never risk or allow any of his goons to risk. His life. No Death Eater spy would ever bring to Harry what I just did." James said in a more serious tone of voice as he slowly reached within one of his jeans' back pockets and pulled out a beautiful shinning tiara. "Rowena Ravenclaw's lost diadem. Horcrux. Previous location Room of Requirement, Hogwarts. I also figured out what the others are and who protects them. Like I've said before, not idle at all…" James revealed his trump and swirled it around his hand while he held one of its ends between his left thumb and forefinger. True that future knowledge lead him to know that information, though James didn't know exactly where Helga Hufflepuff's Cup was. He knew though that it was being protected by Bellatrix Lestrange.
