YUKIYO "YUKI" SANADA
22 . Majutsu no Teikoku Akademī alumni.
“I dare say that you have a house hold name,
but for our new readers, will you inform us once
more what your parents named you?”
In Western order, my name is Yukiyo Sanada, but it's Sanada Yukiyo properly. My friends and family call me Yuki as a sort of pet-name; back home I am usually referred to as Yukiyo-sama or Yukiyo-hime by my co-workers and the people that work around my home. Daisuke refers to me as Yu-chan. Yukiyo means "snow" or "luck." Sanada, my surname, is the name of the noble Japanese family I am a member of.
“Remind us again when you were born? I can
never get enough of the story surrounding
your birth.”
My birthday is February eleventh; I was born in 1975. It had snowed the night before, which is why my parents named me Yukiyo (there's also a long-standing tradition of names involving the word yuki in my family).
“Okay, be honest here. Which are you in to
more: guys or dolls? Don't worry, our lips
are sealed.”
You've a lot of nerve, asking questions like that. To answer it, though, I prefer men.
“Alright, on to the good stuff. What do you do
in your spare time? Any favorite past times?”
I suppose you want me to say that I enjoy things like tea ceremony, calligraphy and kabuki theatre. It's not a lie; I do. I'm also a fan of the punk rock subculture so popular in other parts of the world and have a mild interest in fashion design. The majority of the music I listen to is what I borrow from Daisuke, but I am partial to a muggle Japanese band known as Luna Sea that I discovered on my own.
“Tell me: what are your favorite things in the
entire world? Those special things that just
make you want to smile?”
Well, Akiyama Daisuke first and foremost. He is my childhood friend and only constant companion. I like my family as well...at least, usually. Photography is a newly-discovered passion of mine; I also like hiking and working on cars. I own a motorcycle that I enjoy riding around when I have time off. I like watching movies, reading and painting in my rare periods of free time.
“And sadly we all know that there are things
that we just can't stand. What are yours?”
I despise laziness above all else. It's annoying. Besides that, I can't stand the Allied Council; the British Ministry of Magic is a particular thorn in my side. I hate American sitcoms, and I'm not much of a fan of their literature either. Contrary to popular stereotype, I also don't like anime very much.
“Any short or long term goals? Where do
you see yourself five years? In ten? How
do you plan to get there?”
I'm pretty well-contented with what I do now. I have a job; I have a stable future. I suppose that I'd like to get married one day and have a family, but that's not really a priority right now.
“What makes you quake in your boots?
If you had to pick one thing that scared
you the most, what would it be?”
I'm not sure that I fear much of anything, but...if I had to think of something that I'm afraid of, it would be losing Daisuke.
“Is there a significant other in your life? How
do you do with relationships?”
I prefer long-term relationships, but lately I've been flitting through a series of meaningless short-term ones. I've been in love with my best friend, Daisuke, for almost as long as I can remember. This is a picture of him:
“Now, you know that we adore you, but let's
talk about some other people for a little bit. A
little bird told me that you have some pretty
well known parents. Who are they?”
My mother is Sanada Shiori. She's a housewife, and I aspire to be more like her. I like my mother quite a lot, but we don't get to spend much time together like we used to. I'm always busy these days.
My father is Sanada Asahi. He and I work together as members of the Eastern Coalition. He's a jovial and quirky person, sort of reminds me of Daisuke. We're very close.
“Any other important people in your family?
Did you parents have any other children?”
A younger brother, Kojuro. He's around fourteen and still lives at home, so I don't see him as much as I used to when we were younger.
I also have a younger sister, Tsukiko. We call her Kiko most of the time; she's about eight. Very cute. Since she, like my brother, spends most of her time at home I don't see her as much as I would like. My mother says that she looks up to me a lot, which I'm flattered by.
“How about pets? How many do you have?”
Oh, several; I'm fond of animals. I own an Akita named Akito and three mutts named Raiden, Ryuu and Rei. I also have a Russian Blue named Shiva that Ana gave me for my birthday last year.
“Okay, you have to have known that we were
going to ask. What's your biggest and best
kept secret? I won't tell.”
Um...probably that I'm in love with Daisuke. My parents expect me to marry someone of similar stature to me, and he's sort of an orphan that we took in off the streets when I was a child. Ana, Eliza and Lia know.
“Ok, so who are you loyal to? Dumbledore's
Army, The Dragon's Fire, The Order of the Pheonix,
The Death Eaters, or none of them?”
I'm loyal to the Eastern Coalition.
“Interesting! Now finally, the last question.
What time are you from, Harry's or James'?”
Erm...Harry's?
