Gio was standing back to get a better look at his work, scrawled across the surfaces of ten chalkboards on both sides. Technically speaking, it was twenty boards of work. All related to one spell: the Killing Curse. In unraveling it, he had rediscovered the Shield of Hercules, a spell that had eluded the magical community of the world since the Library of Alexandria burned. More than that, though, he was beginning to form a hypothesis about the nature of high-level magic.
Provided, of course, that Harrison Prewett didn't get confused and erase his work again. Gio was starting to think that his co-worker was a sadist.
"Seven weaker spells," he mumbled as he copied his work on the chalkboards down on to a fifth ream of parchment. Four others were lined up neatly across the desks in the back of the room. Angelina had, helpfully, organized them into the first four chapters of his next book. Her perpetually sour-faced older brother had also dropped by and was now manipulating part of the equation on the board to Gio's far right. Jared had a theory that the Killing Curse was reliant on groups of seven. He was a smart kid, so Gio left him to that.
Gio waved his wand in the direction of the door to unlock it, remembering that he had invited Albion Prewett to his office. The boy was smart; Gio hoped that he would attend the Medici Institute. It would be a waste if he didn't.
