Arabelle surveyed the Charm's classroom, her fingers drumming impatiently on her desk as the clock ticked away on the wall to her left. Today's lesson was practically old news for her, because, unlike her lazy classmates, she actually took the chance to do extra studying whenever she could and was currently repeating the aguamenti charm at a dead plant paired with an incendio spell just for the heck of it. Of course she also used the flame freezing charm for safety. Finally, finally, the class was let out for a period of free time before their studies were to start up again. Picking up her books and scrolls, she stuffed them all in her satchel which she wrapped onto her shoulder, bid Professor Flitwick goodbye, and made a furious beeline for the Black Lake.
Lately, she'd been visiting the Lake more often and found it a very peaceful and serene place to draw, read, study, or just think for a while. It took a few minutes to take off onto the school's grounds and hit the shores of the Black Lake in a halting run. Cautiously she realized that she wasn't the only person there. A Ravenclaw and one of her fellow Slytherins, she guessed as they had carelessly tossed their robes off to reveal muggle clothes, were entangled in a vigorous kiss. Rolling her eyes, Arabelle stood and made her way to a place where a kind of dune made of rock rose (Where the hell did that come from?) to block her sight of the couple to at least give them some privacy and save herself from the embarrassment. Humming quietly, she took out a book, "Merlin, The Wizard", which was one of her favorites and cracked it open to her bookmarked page, quickly immersing herself in the tale of the famous wizard named Merlin.
It was halfway through her book that she realized that there wasn't any more sloppy smacking sounds which must have meant that the passionate couple had left. Chuckling nervously, Arabelle tried to imagine Travis and her like that. So maybe she loved Travis but she wouldn't kiss someone like that, at least not so early in a relationship. Although she did know few people who would and would definitely label as crazy. Though, with the upcoming war and some people from her time who knew the outcome and the price for messing with the timeline of things, she'd started to think differently. Her life was too short and was getting shorter by the minute and yet she still hadn't told Travis her feelings. Honestly, she didn't know if she could.
Sighing almost wistfully, Arabelle snapped her book shut. And closed her eyes as a breeze washed in, pulling her hair back and breathing lightly on her face. Her serenity, though, was interrupted by a loud rustle (or maybe it was Arabelle's paranoid and uncanny super hearing) as she sprang up immediately with a quiet yelp, dropping her book and drawing her wand in a flash. Arabelle already had a defensive spell on the tip of her tongue but it fell off as soon as she realized it wasn't some death eater or something. How could it be? Although, with the trees cluttered before her, they concealed the person that had disrupted her peace.
"...Hello," She greeted softly, raising an eyebrow in a questioning way. "Would you come out from the concealment of the trees?"
Arabelle slowly lowered her wand but didn't pocket it. Who knew? It could be some random Gryffindor that mistook her for a stereotype Slytherin and was just looking for a fight or something. In any case, a fight wouldn't need to involve wands for Arabelle to win it.
"You almost scared me half out of my wits," Arabelle carried on casually. She really hoped that whoever it was, wasn't one of the two that were kissing on the shores of the Black Lake. Now that would be extremely awkward.
