Yeah, we all know it. The dreaded rules. Everyone has to have them though, so we'll keep it as short as possible.

Educational Decree #1

Follow The Rules!
Just please be sure to follow all the rules; we don't like having trouble, and we're pretty sure you don't like getting into trouble. Plus, the rules aren't all that hard to follow guys. Just stick to the rules, and everything will be just fine.

Educational Decree #2

No God-modding! This means no taking control of a person. The only exceptions are to progress the plot. Meaning Bill is supposed to announce something and we don't have a Bill yet. Only if it is absolutely necessary, you may do this. The other exception is if you use the Imperious Curse on someone, and they say specifically that you may do this to their character.

Educational Decree #3

Post in Third Person. This means, Harry walked, not I walked or you walked. The only acception is in chat and out of character threads. Also if you want to add a little note to the person you are RP'ing with, you must do it like so. ((Hello!)) Please follow this rule since it provides clarity.

Educational Decree #4

One character per account. This helps provide clarity on which characters a person has, and are posting as. If you want more than one character, make another account. No multiple characters on one account are allowed, unless special permission has been granted.

Educational Decree #5

Word Count. This is a big deal. There really is no word count, but we do ask for a good paragraph, of at least five sentences. Also don't let more than half of your post be quote, or what your person says, have them do something or think something. Just not complete talking posts.

Educational Decree #6

Out of Character you must respect everyone. Be nice, let new people join in the conversations. Plot with others, whether it just be open a thread for a new person to join. Help the new people join in and get going.

Educational Decree #7

No Gary-Sues or Mary-Sues. This doesn't mean your character can't be named Gary-Sue or Mar-Sue, but rather no perfect characters. Everyone has faults. This also means you have to lose a few times. Even the famous Harry Potter has lost. Get hit a few times in a duel. You can't win every time.

Educational Decree #8

Signatures. Nothing above PG-13. This means no sex, drugs, gore, or anything too bad (This includes extreme religious items since it might offend someone, though mentions are allowed, just nothing like Jesus on the cross). Also keep the size at 500x350, so you don't stretch the board.

Educational Decree #9

Keep everything PG-13. Nothing more. Otherwise this wouldn't be a RP site for all ages. If there is something more than this, use a time fast forward, or black out. No actually RP'ing it. Talking about it after wards, well that's a separate issue. Just keep everything PG-13 and it'll all be fine.

Educational Decree #10

Once you are accepted you must change your display name to your character's name, no acceptions. No all capitals or all lower case, it must be like Harry James Potter. Your user name can be anything, potterfan2342googlefartface, or anything you want as long as the display name is changed.

Educational Decree #11

Every character needs a play-by, and it has to be a real person. Whether it be a well known celebrity, or maybe a not-so-well known celebrity, just make them a real person, preferbly a celebrity.

Educational Decree #12

After you register, you should make your character, in the Application board. It's simple really, you just fill out the application and wait for an admin to accept you, and sort you if you are a Hogwarts student. Also, don't expect to be accepted right away, we all have lives. Please be patient, or it might just take us longer to accept your character.

Educational Decree #13

Not everyone can be a prodigy or genius; so no character can be like that. Though you may buy some abilities at the site shop. Any spells your character shouldn't know, they shouldn't know period. The only exceptions are ones we allowed, so if you have a question about it, please PM a staff member. Also, Unforgivable Curses; only Death Eaters may use them, no one else. Unless in a battle, then perhaps some of the Order members may, but no student may use one, under any circumstances unless you bought the rights to it!

Educational Decree #14

Bumping Your Thread.
By this we mean adding more to your thread to bump it up. Please wait at least 24 hours until you add more information; there is almost always a willing RPer who will RP with you. Plus do not just post Bump, add something to your RP.

I know some people like to RP in first person; but please, keep it in third person here. It gives us more information, but in that character's perspective.

Educational Decree #16

Have Fun! That is what it all is really about. Please have read these rules, and not skimmed through them for the super secret passcode. There isn't one, so if you're asked, just say there isn't one. Again have fun and follow these rules, please. I don't like it when punishment has to be given out for not following the rules.

Educational Decree #17

Regarding NPC's and multiple characters. Anyone can RP an NPC whenever they want, as long as the character they are posting as is in the thread as well. This is also in regards to your own characters. To make things easier, if you would prefer, if you have multiple characters in one thread, you can use one account to post for all of your characters in that thread. Just make sure the account you use is for a character within that thread.

And just like that, you're done. Make sure you read the rules thoroughly and you'll be just fine. Have fun!
