Ginny was wandering the halls, thinking about things. She knew she and Dean were over, and now she hoped Harry would take a hint and ask her out. But of course he was too distracted with Malfoy. Why couldn't Malfoy just disapear for awhile! It'd simplify things. Ginny sighed and began to think about other relationships. "I wonder why Ron won't admit to himself that he's in love with Hermione. I mean it's obvious!" She shook her head as she was walking. Looking up she realised she was on the sixth floor, in an empty hallway. She decided to sit on the edge of a step and just listen to the silence around her. After a few minutes she heard some footsteps. They were loud and clumsy, like someone who'd just had a growth spurt. A bit spaced apart, so long legs, and had an odd timing. "Must be Ron," she looked up to see her brother walking down the hall.

Ron walked around the corner and noticed his little sister, he had not seen her for a few days, usually they pass in the common room or at lunch. He smiled at her and walked up to her. " Hey , You alright sis?" he said with a warm smile on his face. He looked around to see if anyone else was in sight, but it was just the two of them, he remembered how close both of them used to be when they were much younger.

"Just thinking, Ron," Ginny said to him as she looked up. "Where's your girlfriend? Shouldn't Lavander have wisked you away to snog or something," she joked with him. It'd been a loong time since the two of them had really talked, he was usually too busy with Harry and Hermione or now with Lavander to care about his little sister. She watched him and thought about his crush on Hermione, and how it was so obvious but he was too stupid to tell the girl. Personally, Ginny knew Ron and Hermione would be perfect, she thought even Harry might see it, and Harry was almost as oblivious as Ron. Hermione and Ron fought like a married couple, were best friends, and protected each other like a brother and sister... it was meant to be.

Ron smiled and looked down to the floor. " Well..we kinda split up, well ive not told her yet anyway, just hiding untill i work out what to tell her" He said laughing to himself inside. " So Dean? Do you need me to have words with him, i know you split but if he done anything to upset you!" Ron said with a slight frown on his face. " Have you seen Hermione today? ive not seen her" he said trying not to blush , like he did whenever he said her name.

Ginny raised her eyebrows, surprised that he'd finally gotten tired of Lavander. "Hiding from her, is that why you've been avoiding the common room and Great Hall lately?" She couldn't help but smile on the inside, however, she despised Lavander. The girl was way too clingy for Ginny to enjoy the company of Ron and Lavander together. "As for Dean, I haven't talked to him since we broke up, he kept insisting that he wasn't babying me, but it's a complete lie. He wouldn't let me do anything myself," she huffed to herself. "You don't have to talk to him, though, I'm just fine by myself." She glanced up at him, "and no, haven't seen Hermione since she divebombed you with the birds because of your stupid comments. Try the astronomy tower, she likes to do homework up there. Be sure to tell her you're breaking it off with Lavander before she throws her twenty pound books at you."

Ron didnt understand why Hermione had such a problem with Lavander and Ron. He has loved Hermione for years but surely she didnt like him, not like that, surely not. Ron smiled at Ginny and nodded. " Yeah i know you are more than able to handle yourself" He smiled and remembered the times when both of them used to fight. " Hmm ill maybe go for a look later, why would it matter to Hermione that we broke up?" He asked scratching his head and having a look of confusion.

"Think about it, Ron, she shot magic birds at your head because of a conversation involving Lavander, Hermione hates the girl. She'll be less likely to kill you if she knows you have or you will break up with Lavander," Ginny chuckled to herself. How blind could her brother get? It was so obvious that Ron and Hermione were mad for one another. Ginny had known since the Yule ball two years previously. The way Hermione got upset when Ron only asked her as a last resort, and the way Ron glared at Krum was a sure sign. She just wondered when they would finally admit to one another how they felt. "And you better know I can take care of myself, otherwise I'd have a bat-boogey saved especially for you."

Ron nodded gently and laughed. "Yeah she doesn't like the girl at all" He said thinking to himself what it is she doesn't like, then realising there is probably a whole list. " Ginny, see if there is something you want right, and you cant have it because you know its wrong, but it feels right to you, but you're not sure how it could work out, what im saying is do you believe in taking chances?" He then shut himself up realising he basically nearly said exactly what he was thinking,in his mind he slapped himself. He waited hoping she wouldnt know what he was talking about. He ran his hand through his scruffy red hair and quietly tapped his foot on the ground.

Ginny looked at Ron and thought for a few seconds, 'it sounds like he's asking me if he should ask Hermione out... but I don't want to misjudge this situation,' She thought to herself. She watched his bodily movements. Each little move he made showed nervousness. The way he ran his hand through his hair and tapped his foot... yup, she figured it must be what she thought. She stood up so that she was closer to his height, though still a good eight or nine inches shorter than he, as he had been growing like crazy. Ginny brushed her hair out of her eyes so she could look Ron right in the eyes. "Yes, I believe in taking chances and risking the fear of mistakes. If you feel like it's right, then go for it, Ron. The worst thing that can happen is that what you felt wasn't what was there. No matter what you do, even if it doesn't work, you'll get over it, I promise. Go for the gold, and if the gold is a girl, go for it and work until you get it. Any girl would be lucky to have my brother," she punched him lightly on the arm. "So, yes, take a chance."

Ron smiled and looked away for a secconf, he knew how he felt about Hermione, but could he tell her, if she didn't feel the same it would ruine there friendship, he wanted to tell Ginny who he meant , but she was friends with her too, it would only complicate things. Ron stood and held his stomach as it made noises, he was hungry, infact he was always hungry, He looked down at his sister and smiled, " Aw thanks , just one of the guys were asking you see. cos they well,,,like a girl" he said making it up as he went along, he wasn't exactly good at making things up. He smiled " So Ginny, have you got anyone just now?" he asked with a grin on his face.

Ginny chuckled and rolled her eyes, "one of the guys was asking, huh..." She shook her head at him, "I know you like Hermione, Ron, just ask the bloody girl out!" She stared him down. "The longer you wait the more likely she'll find someone else! Just ask her out, the worst that can happen is she'll say no. She's not the type of person who will make things awkward if she doesn't like you back, I know she isn't. As for if I have anyone, I believe that's a question you'd better ask Harry, he'd be able to answer better than I would."
