Lately, Félix had been so busy with school work that he hadn't taken one of his customary strolls for several weeks and so, on this particular weekend, he made a decision to stop worrying about his Potions essay and to take some time to himself. At first, he was only going to take a walk around as usual, but he remembered that this weekend was a Hogsmeade weekend. Félix wasn't particularly fond of Hogsmeade because there were always too many people around, but he admitted to himself that he might be able to entertain himself a little, especially since he hadn't visited the village in a very long time.
Félix was a mess; he had been working so hard the last few days that he hadn't combed his hair or done any of his usual impeccable grooming. His hair was sticking up in places; his white dress shirt, usually clean and crisp, now had spots of ink here and there; and he had misplaced his necktie. It was still early in the morning, but Félix wanted to get the most out of his day at Hogsmeade, so he hurriedly took a shower and put on a clean suit. Unfortunately, the only other tie he could find was green bowtie with pink polka dots. At home, though, his father would always call him scruffy if he didn't wear a tie at all and so, thinking of him, Félix put on the bowtie despite its unattractiveness. He then slung his overcoat over his shoulder as he left the dormitory and walked purposefully down all of the flights of stairs to the Entrance Hall.
Once he had arrived at Hogsmeade, Félix didn't know where to go. He knew for certain that he didn't want to visit the Three Broomsticks; he had only been there once before, but it had definitely been a traumatic experience for him; he despised crowds, and didn't have much of an affinity for the Three Broomsticks' beverages either. So, he just walked down the main road, looking at all of the various shops. It was clear that spring was in the air, and so he took off his overcoat.
As he was passing, he caught sight of Gladrags Wizardwear. That could be useful, he thought. He needed a new tie anyway. Félix normally hated shopping for clothes, although he was sometimes amused by various necktie patterns, so he entered the shop anyway. After browsing around for a little bit, he chose two neckties: one plain black one, and one that sang a song about rolling in the hay in a German accent whenever it got too dirty. (Despite his generally solemn countenance, Félix was very easily amused.)
After he purchased the two ties, Félix left Gladrags and walked to the very edge of the Hogsmeade High Street, where there was a small section that wasn't lined with shops. He sat down on a log and stared thoughtfully out into the wilderness.
