The rain was pouring down on this day but that wouldn't slow her down. She was too emmersed in her work to notice the rain. There were several pieces of parchment scattered around the table. She kept scribbleing on each one. Some contained pictures, other were poems.
"Excuse me, but Miss Van Alen, you have to leave. We're closing." the barman, Tom, said. Schuyler looked up at him like a deer in head lights. Did she really have to leave?
"I was hoping I could stay longer. I'd rather not go walking in the rain sir." she responded trying not to sound hurt. She wasn't too fond of the rain, mainly because it made her hair frizz if she didn't have a hood.
"I'm sorry, but I have to close up shop."
"That's alright I guess. Thank you for letting me stay so late." she smiled grabbing her bag and placing all her paper in it. She tipped over an ink bottle on accident and was having a hard time cleaning it up. Some one started to help her but she couldn't see who it was. She didn't even know who it was.

Tony liked writing, and he hadn't seen Satsu in a while, so he'd headed over to the building in Diagon Alley where she was bunking for the summer. When he got there, Tom was closing up and kicking out some poor girl whose ink bottle got knocked over.
"It's okay, Tom, I've got it," Tony spoke up, taking the offered rag from the barman.
He kneeled in front of the girl to help her clean up, flashing her a grin.
"Hey there. I'm Tony."

Schuyler looked up and then looked down again. Why would anyone help her? She wasn't the most liked person in the town. She didn't even know what to say around people half the time. Even her friends had hardly heard talk.
"Schuyler." she muttered. She grabbed the now empty bottle of ink and threw it away. "Thanks for helping me clean up my mess..."

"It's no problem," he replied good-naturedly. "It's nice to meet you Schuyler. Can I call you Skye?"
He glanced out the window to see the rain hammering down and laughed sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head and glad that he'd remembered an umbrella when he left his own boarding house earlier. His sister was bound to be back at the boarding house by that point, but he was pretty sure that she'd understand why he brought Skye around.
"Hey, the boarding house where I stay is near here, and the landlady's nice...I'm sure she'd let us raid her kitchen for hot chocolate if we dropped by," he suggested. "It's raining pretty hard out there."

Schuyler shrugged, no one really called her Skye, her friends called her Schuyler Alyce instead. She kept moving her hair behind her ears, she always messed with her hair when she didn't know what to do.
He was asking her to go to his house? He didn't even know her, people in this part of England were rather strange. No one from her town asked you to come in when it was raining and you were locked out of your house. Some people actually laughed at you.
"Um, I guess I could. But Allegra will wonder where I've gone... I have a piano lesson in an hour." Schuyler said holding her bag close. One of her poems fell out and she made a mad grab for it. Most of her poems were about being left out and hated but this one was about love and loss and wishing for a new start, she refused to let anyone see it. "'Rain is just the tears of the angels.' That's what Allegra tells me. They're weeping because they've lost one of their own."
A voice inside her kept saying, 'Deep chiz man, some deep chiz..'

"I could walk you to your piano lesson," he offered. "It's raining pretty hard, and times are dangerous. Not a good time for ladies to be walking out alone."
He had an ingrained sense of chivalry inherited from his father. Whatever else could be said about Leonardo Angeli, let it never be said that he was anything less than a gentleman. The same went for his son.
He kneeled to pick up the poem, handing it back to Skye with a smile. He was sure that she didn't want him to read it, so he wouldn't.
"That's pretty deep. My mama used to say something similar to me," he noted.

"You don't have to do that..." Schuyler shrugged. She kind of thought it would be nice to have someone to walk her to her lesson, and then back to her house. But what would Allegra say? Would she get scolded for having some stranger walk her there? Or would she be pleased that she'd found a friend? "I don't mind if you do, but my grandmother might get mad if she sees you."
She hugged her bag, after stowing the poem back in there safely. She'd submitted her work several times to a few newspapers but they all said they wouldn't take a kid's work. It was like they didn't even read it!
"You're mother must be wise. My grandmother is always telling me I need to remember the stuff she says." she smiled faintly.

"I don't have to; I want to," he insisted. "Like I said, Diagon Alley is dangerous these days. It's best if you don't walk home alone. Please? Let me escort you?"
He really couldn't let her walk home alone, not with Snatchers running loose. They were infamous for having spotty efficiency, and letting her walk alone through the Alley with them running around didn't set right with him.
"My mother likes to make the rest of us think that she's wise," he laughed. "Sometimes, I wonder about her, though."

"I'm fine with danger... Really, even though you want to." Schuyler said turning pink, she hadn't really had a long conversation with someone before. "Fine, fine, just because I don't have time to argue about it."
She'd been caught by the snatchers before. They'd checked her name, she wasn't on their lists. They'd let her go but she'd gotten a black eye and a three week grounding from it, not even a 'Oh thank God your safe!!'.

"Oh, wonderful! Can you wait down here for a second? My friend Satsu lives upstairs; she's supposed to come over for some sort of make-over party with my sister later," he explained.
He hoped that she didn't mind Satsu coming along; the quirky Asian was Tony's best friend, and he wanted her to be friends with Skye, too. His new friend seemed like she could do with a few other friends besides him, and Satsu was always so friendly and pleasant.

"Sure.." Schuyler nodded slightly. She didn't really mind that he was bringing someone along. She waited for him to go up the stairs before looking at the poem she'd dropped earlier. Once she'd pulled it out and started reading it, she tore it up. It was too different and reading back on it, it sounded horrible. She threw away the little pieces but missed one and didn't notice it. She stood there and waited. The one piece was at the bottom of the stairs and in the dark demeanor of the area, it stood out like a paint drip on canvas.

Satsu grinned, kissed Tony's cheek and bolted downstairs when he came up to her room. She and his sister were plotting against him, he just knew it...some half-cocked plan to find him a girlfriend, he was sure. They had far too many of those. He would be talking to Marina about that later. She probably wouldn't listen, but he'd talk to her.
Satsu was scanning a scrap of paper when he got downstairs. She grinned at Skye.
"Konnichi-wa, Skye-san!" she chirped. "I'm Satsu!"

Schuyler blinked with a deer in headlights look on her face. She wasn't expecting someone to come down and randomly call her Skye, no one really did.. She tilted the corners of her mouth up and said, "Hi Satsu, its, um, nice to meet you."
She held her bag close just in case she was asked about what was in it. No one was allowed to look in her bag, it was the one few places she could keep her person stuff. Each of her hiding places involved somthing important to her. For example, each year she would place some poems and art work under her bed at Hogwarts, although this year she wasn't sure exactly if it would be safe to do that.
