Tristan had dressed in an odd white jacket, and a nice pair of slacks. He had his favorite hat (though he rarely wore it, and only for special occasions) on and a pair of polished (VERY polished) black dress shoes. He didn't have a date yet, but he just figured there would be ladies without dates, or their date wouldn't dance with them, so he could at least have a dance. The dances in the past were quite fun even without a date.
Tristan was still surprised about the huge bomb Astrid laid on him. From the future? And he had children? It was hard to handle all at once. When he was talking with her last in the Group Common Room, he was shocked and well didn't show it at all. He wanted to know everything about the future, but he didn't at the same time... She said Luke, Tom, and Annabeth? Weren't there people here called that? They were common names, so he didn't approach them, but instead lettin his future children come to him.
Everthing was just so overwhelming and he almost didn't believe her. But it made some sense, except for the cause. Why did they travel back in time? And what caused it? It was really just so confusing he had spent last night just constantly thinking about it.

Astrids dress was tighter then she remembered. She had squeezed into it and then used a simple spell to make it feel more comfortable on her. She smiled. Her hair was styled in a long braid down her back and she had a white ribbon weaved through it. She looked at herself for a moment and then made her way to the ballroom. She smiled as she entered and looked for someone familiar. She already had a date but she was looking for someone to chat with while she waited for him.
She smiled when she spotted Tristan. He was a pretty cool guy and funny. She had told him the secret(which was a bad thing) but he had believed her. She walked over to him and grinned. "Hey you" she said in a friendly tone. She glanced around at everyone else who was at the ball. It was a very colorful room.
She spotted a person nearby and pointed. "From the future." She pointed to a few other people and then just shrugged. She was hoping to spot her best friend somewhere. She really missed having chats with him about all the stuff that was going on.

Tristan heard the familiar voice and smiled. Well time to make a fool of himself, with his weird outfit and all. He really shouldn't have applied that additional coat of polish on his shoes they were so shiny. Now he could at least get some more information about all of this. Maybe she would know the answers to his questions.
"Hey Astrid," Tristan answered, "Do you have a date coming?" Tristan didn't know if she was taken or not, though with the information of from the future, he wouldn't even take the chance of trying something and messing up the future she knew.
"Do you know like, everyone from your... time?" Tristan asked curiously, chuckling slightly. Probably not, but Tristan safely assumed all of the new people were from the future, but he wouldn't mention he knew to them even if they knew it, since he made a promise, and one he was going to keep.

Astrid glanced at what he was wearing and grinned. He looked pretty good except his shoes seemed to be like a mirror.
"yeah. My boyfriend, Phineas Lestrange." she smiled at the thought of her boyfriend, she couldn't wait to see how handsome he would look in a tux. "Do you have a date coming?" she asked in return.
"I can recognize most people by the way they act. Plus they seem different" she said, shrugging. It was true. They danced slightly different and seemed to clump together more instead of mingling.

"Ah, Phineas... is he related to Bellatrix? If so, that'd be pretty cool. Should meet him sometime," Tristan replied with a grin all over his face. She seemed really cool, and to be dating a guy related to Bellatrix was even cooler, and thought that he and this Phineas guy would get along quite well. Tristan had friends of his own, though he tended to separate himself from them, though he was trying harder to keep his friends close, though while still keeping his enemies closer.
"That's true, I mean you are from a completely different place, different teachings, life, and roles, and of course rules," Tristan replied thinking of the logic which was nice, "Plus I bet some of them don't want to mess with this time because it was their parents life, and if their parents don't get together... poof, they never exist." He knew he woudn't want to do something like that.

"Bellatrix is his aunt. Shes pretty cool. Ive never met her my self but hes told me a lot about her." She said. She squirmed uncomfortably for a moment. She had always wanted to meet Bellatrix but was frightened that the woman would say something nasty to her because of who her dad was. She felt a tad bit of sadness prick at her when thinking about her family but ignored it. She was here for a reason and couldnt go home until she figured out why.
"The forbidden forest isnt even forbidden in my time." she smiled. She loved to walk through the forest during the weekends and look for magical creatures. She just had to remember to keep her wand in her hand at all times in case something mean attacked her. "My parents will end up together no matter what, Im pretty sure of it." Astrid was trying to sound confident about that even though she wasnt sure it was true.

"Oh that's cool!" Tristan replied thinking about Bellatrix, "Bellatrix was the one who drove Frank and Alice Longbottom bonkers right?" Tristan only knew this because he listened really closely and heard some people talking about her before. She was just an amazing person, so devoted and with a sure direction in life, though he bet she was messed up when Voldemort died, if he ever died.
"What? It isn't? Isn't it still dangerous?" Tristan asked thinking it was weird that they let student put themselves in danger, if it was dangerous at that point. Tristan smiled at her confidence and replied. "Of course they did, otherwise you wouldn't be here, and if you messed it up you wouldn't have been born and messed it up, so no one would mess it up for them. Then again if someone else influences it, well something would happen in their life that would change, whether parents or not, and then they would never do such a thing or would want to do it more, and therefore they don't mess it up because they wouldn't be the same people, so you would be born anyways because it wasn't messed up. That is so confusing... A paradox it's called."

"I believe so." Astrid thought for a moment. "Yepp, your right. You might almost be smart enough to be my friend." She smiled since she was obviously teasing. Then her thoughts wandered a bit. She wondered if Tristan had any questions about the future, She had never really considered it. "Do yoiu have any questions about this whole thing? She asked.
"Of course its dangerous, but we know how to protect ourselves. We know we have to be careful and there are specific rules we have to follow when going into the forest, but its worth it. Its actually really pretty." Astrid said. She listened to him as he talked but also found herself staring around and trying to find other people from her own time. Specifically her siblings and her best friend. She turned back to Tristan and raised and eyebrow. "Im pretty smart and I get the basics of what you just said, but it still confused the hell out of me." She grinned helplessly.

Tristan smiled, and thought for a second about all the questions he had. Really most of them could be condensed into one question, but it was a question that would reveal most of what happened to him. "What happened between Harry and the Dark Lord? Who won the war? What happened? Was there a big deciding battle and whatnot?" Tristan asked quickly. Really he just meant it to be one question but it came out as many questions. It really was interesting to know what happened in the future.
"Oh that makes sense. I sneak in there a few times, though I've been caught once. Had a detention there too," Tristan replied smiling. He had been in there only a few times, but had fallen in love with the forest, and its creatures. He wished it wasn't forbidden now, not in the future when he was probably not going to be there and all.

She considered his many questions for a moment. It was really hard to explain. " The dark lord was eventually defeated. Which is kind of depressing. Um, order of the phoenix, or the good guys as they call themselves, won." Astrid bit her lip. "My own brother dissapeared during the whole thing and I havent seen him since then. She scratched the back of her neck. She hadnt really been very great at paying attention to everything in the war. She had been kind of selfish and only paid attention to what she had to do. She had cared about what happened to her loved ones and all but the war as a whole hadnt been that big of a deal in her mind at the time.
"Having a detention there would be awesome!!!" She couldnt help but sound excited. It would be fun to have to explore it instead of doing the other boring detention stuff, like writing lines.

Tristan was let down for a bit but listened to all of it. Hah, the Order the good guys. They didn't like him primarily because he was a Slytherin. He tried being friends with Potter, but Potter blew him off, so he didn't like the Order of the Pheonix too much. "Dang, I really thought the Order would loose miserably, even if they have Potter, the Death Eaters have the Dark Lord... Haven't heard even one word from him?"
"Well it was better than lines, but boring since we weren't allowed to do anything except gather these potion herbs," Tristan replied. It was pretty fun for detention, but he wouldn't do it just because it was fun or anything like that.

Astrid had never liked the Order. Potter's son James had always gotten on her nerves, especially since she knew her brother had started falling for him. "We were all hoping they would lose. The Dark Lord doesnt really contact students unless he thinks they can be useful and Phin hasnt said anything." She shrugged helplessly.
"Writing lines doesnt teach students anything except how to be bored out of their minds. Collecting potions ingredients doesnt seem to bad, except not as exciting as just exploring" She didnt really like this time, she decided. The people were nice but everything at Hogwarts was so different compared to what she was used to.

Tristan frowned. He had heard a rumor there was one boy who was supposibly a Death Eater. Maltoy? Malfoy? Tristan didn't really know the kid, but knew he was in his year. Tristan wondered what that kid did to get the honor of the Dark Lord wanting his services. Well Tristan guessed that his desire to please or being needed by the Dark Lord meant he was more on the Death Eaters' side, which he didn't really care too much about.
"What about Maltoy, I think that's his name? Is the rumor true that he's a Death Eater?" Tristan asked, but would understand if she didn't know. Of course Tristan didn't know that her brother of betrothed to his daughter, but Astrid probably knew that, or maybe not.
"Yeah, it's supposed to be just a punishment to bore us and teach us that either you do trouble and become bored for hours, or be good and don't worry about being bored with writing lines," Tristan replied. Personally he probably liked the future better since he felt so restricted with the rules of this time.

Malfoy? She instantly thought of the one her brother had been supposed to marry and scowled for a moment before realizing that he was talking about Draco. "Draco? Uhm, yeah, its true. He is pretty special or something. Whatever, him and his family can jump off a bridge" She hated that her brother had been bethroved to his daughter and it had made her angry. She knew her brother had been in love with someone who wasnt the malfoy girl. He had never told her who but she could tell that there was no chemistry.
Astrid nodded in agreement. "I think thats what they think but i think kids dont mind it, if they can still do whatever they want. Since its not difficult at ALL" Astrid had been forced to write lines a couple times. Usually she found ways to get out of it. She never really got in trouble. She tried to avoid it unless someone really annoyed her.

That confused Tristan slightly. Wasn't that guy supposed to be the world famous Death Eater kid? At least Tristan overheard Harry saying something like that... or it could've been bouncing ferret, he wasn't sure about that, either way, he was supposed to be a big supporter of Voldemort, and Astrid was a supporter of Voldemort right? "Wait... why? What does he do?" Tristan asked slowly picking his words carefully and making sure he heard her right.
"That's true, though I hate it, so I avoid trouble," Tristan replied. He found writing lines boring, and he hated detention, since he found the professors to probably be allies in the end. What he was going to do with their loyalities he wasn't sure about yet. He just hated being in trouble either way, changing himself slightly so the teacher would like him, and well he thought he did a good job.
