Ginny smiled as she walked confidently into the ballroom, her golden heels clacking with each step. Ever since Harry had asked her to the ball (even as just friends) she'd been looking for the perfect dress. Even more so after he kissed her. She managed to finally find it, with a little help from her mother. The green of the dress perfectly matched the color in Harry's eyes. Not to mention, the gold belt accented her golden red curls. She scanned the room for her messy-haired Harry, and spotted him quickly, next to a few familar faces. Ginny took a deep breath, smiled, and walked over, drawing Harry's attention by the loud noise from her shoes. She watched his face, waiting for a reaction as her mind wandered back to their kiss, and she wondered whether another was in store for her... tonight.

Harry had taken a short time to get ready, not too much. His hair was made to be not messy, and actually quite nice and normal looking upon his head. That probably took the longest. He then put on a tuxedo, and his nice shoes. Harry had gone out not too long ago to get a rose, red, not yellow or white, because each color meant something, and well he didn't really mind if she knew what it meant. He had put a spell on the rose so it wouldn't ever die, so she could have it forever, though he couldn't make it so it would live forever completely, but it would live as long as him, which he hoped would be awhile.
Harry hurried down to the Great Hall and headed in. He looked around for Ginny, but of course she came up to him first. Harry turned and watched as Ginny headed for him. Just watching her walk over him stirred something in him. He felt the impulse to run up to her and give her a kiss, but he resisted it. Once she was by him, Harry smiled and thought of what to say quickly.
"H-hey Ginny," Harry said nervously, "Y-you're gorgeous tonight. Would you want to dance?" Harry wasn't a good dancer and preferred not to, but the reason he didn't dance the last two years was because he didn't go with someone he was sure he was in love with. Hopefully nothing too bad would happen tonight. If he saw Malfoy anywhere near here... well he might keep an eye on him, of course.

Ginny couldn't help but smile when she saw Harry's face, if she wasn't mistaken, it looked like a slight blush covered his cheeks. She loved the way he stammered what he said, it just showed her that all the work it took to get ready for the dance was worth it. She glanced down with a smile and a blush before looking back up at him, "I'd love to dance." She knew Harry wasn't much of a dancer, but he couldn't be that bad, could he? And besides, it didn't matter if he could dance as long as they had fun. She glanced around quickly, knowing that Harry would always have an eye out for Malfoy. 'Please don't start anything tonight,' she thought to herself. She would hex Malfoy to oblivian if he ruined this night. 'Tonight is my night with Harry, don't get involved,' she thought again, waiting for Harry to lead her onto the floor.

Harry grinned happily then remembered the rose and held it up. "Oh, here's a rose. It'll live for, you know, well, however long I do," Harry quickly stated. That was actually quite a good idea, so if he died, well she knew it, and could spread the word of his death, or know if he was faking. Harry didn't even realize the perfection of it, especially if he died and she had no word about him, or if they said he was dead, and he really wasn't, Ginny would know that he really wasn't dead.
"Heh... hopefully I won't trip or something," Harry replied with a nervous smile. He had practiced some, though he wasn't that great still. At least Neville had given him some direction on how to do it. He was ok at a couple of dances, but others he didn't even know of. Hopefully he wouldn't make a full of himself.

Ginny took the rose gingerly in her hands and felt her eyes soften and her mouth lift into a sweet smile. No guy had ever given her such a sweet gift before. "Thank you," she said, her voice surprisingly quiet and sweet. "It's the perfect gift, I know you will have to leave sometime, and this will be a wonderful reassurance to me." She stepped forward and gave Harry a quick kiss on the cheek, "I'll keep it forever." Ginny knew that she would have to carry this always. If, for whatever reason, he had to fake death in front of her, this would be the only way she would know that he wasn't truly dead, though to keep up the image, she would still have to react like he was dead... which wouldn't be hard, seeing him lying still would be bad enough, even if she knew he was alive. She stepped back and let her hair fall a bit in front of her face, a little nervous, just like he was. She wasn't the best dancer either, and she didn't want to step on him any more than he wanted to step on her. "At least it's a song we recognize, right?" she said, hoping to lighten the worries. It was a song they played two years previously at the Yule ball, which he attended as a champion, and she attened as Neville's partner.

"Yeah, and I cast the spell all by myself, without Hermione's help," Harry replied happily and triumphantly, thinking about how many roses he actually went through before it worked, and Hermione checked it afterwards, to make sure it would live as long as he did. The idea that gave it to him was when Slughorn talked about his goldfish and the day Lily, his mum, died, poof gone.
"Heh, yeah," Harry replied remembering the Yule Ball and how he only danced how much he had to. This time he wanted to because, not that he didn't like the Patil twin, but he liked Ginny a lot, and felt it would be special.

Ginny chuckled, she knew how much Harry enjoyed doing things without Hermione's help, though he never turned her help down when it came to homework. She blinked and wondered how many tries it took Harry to get the spell right. Probably quite a few, honestly. She brushed a strand of hair behind her ear as she watched the look in his eyes, excited and happy, just how she liked them to look. Ginny then watched as it again faded to slight nervousness, even though they semi-recognized this song. She was glad he wanted to dance, at the Yule ball he only dance the first dance with the Patil twin. He wouldn't have danced even that much if he hadn't been one of the champions and required to do so.

"Ok let's dance," Harry said taking Ginny's hands and walking her towards the dance floor, and placed his hands as Neville taught him and smiled, before beginning to dance. Harry fumbled a couple of time, but didn't do that too often, but Harry was starting to get the hang of it. Harry looked into Ginny's eyes with a smile, before pushing the impulse to give her a kiss from his mind.
