Eliza sat on the hospital bed Madame Pomfrey had directed her to and scowled. So she'd missed a treatment, so what? She felt fine! She'd recovered from her scrapes and bruises very quickly, and she wasn't sore, anymore. And still, Madame Pomfrey insisted that her internal injuries were nothing to mess with and made her come down to the Hospital Wing evey day. It all seemed really excessive.
She lifted the handkerchief that Pomfrey had given her to her mouth when she started on one of her recent coughing fits and winced when she saw the blood in it. Pomfrey said that the blood was the result of her internal injuries; she wasn't convinced. She had seen people cough up blood; it had passed. She thought that this would too. Pomfrey wouldn't listen to her, though.
Oh, when she caught up to that Hufflepuff brat that had told Madame Pomfrey about her injuries...how had that kid known about it, anyway? Little weirdo. She'd ask about that when she caught the girl too.
She sighed and glanced towards the door. Pomfrey had run off shortly after Eliza arrived and given her strict orders to stay in bed. She did that often; Eliza still wasn't sure where she went. She'd come back with some nasty brew that she made Eliza drink, though. She claimed that it was helping with the injuries; Eliza thought the old nurse was just sadistic, though. She'd never say that out loud, though; it didn't do to disrespect elderly comrades. Her mutti had taught her that.

Teddy had been here for yesterday, which was the day after the funeral, and now today. Madame Pomfrey said he would be able to be released after two more days, which was a relief to him because then he could get up and stretch his legs (though he did manage to escape which prolonged his need to stay, so he did stretch his legs a good amount). At least now the spell Madame Pomfrey used allowed him to sit up, though he still couldn't get out of bed, nor move too much. Now this was dangerous, because who knew if the roof would fall in and crush him, yeah? Or if someone would come and try to assassinate him? What then? Ha. Teddy was sure that wouldn't happen, and either way Madame Pomfrey did have a fail safe just in case that happened.
Teddy was sitting up in his bed, not struggling this time, as had a book to read. No, he didn't like reading, but it was his favorite book. Even still he couldn't help but get distracted by his thoughts. He'd been reading this all day, but he was still on the second page. He really had a short attention span. Teddy let himself look around the hospital wing and spotted a girl in the bed next to him.
Teddy pretended to read his book as he tried to match the face up in his memory. Gah! He was terrible with faces, he was better with names, but he knew he had see her face before, but where? Well, might as well just ask!
"I see Madame Pomfrey has caught another prisoner," Teddy said with a smile and a chuckle placing his book on the stand next to him and smiling at the girl here. He was so sure! Where in the world did he see her before?

She looked away from the wall she was attempting to glare a hole through when the guy next to her spoke. He'd been in the hospital wing when she'd missed her treatment, and she'd seen him in the battle, but she had no idea what his name was. She vaguely remembered him being nearby when the roof collapsed, too. Verdammt (damn) roof...it was the whole reason she was here.
"Ja, she keeps rambling about the seriousness of internal injuries," she grumbled. "I'm Eliza Beilschmidt; it's nice to meet you, comrade."
He'd said he was Remus Lupin's cousin, didn't he? She'd only seen Lupin a few times since he left his old teaching post, but she remembered his face. This guy sure didn't look anything like Lupin; he must've been a pretty distant cousin.

Yeah well... Teddy didn't remember just about anything from when he was knocked by that falling roof, most because he was then hit with a spell that made him go all loopy. But then he had remembered it! He'd seen her the day before when Victoire came! How could he be so stupid? Teddy almost facepalmed himself, but then stopped himself realizing that it'd look really weird.
Eliza... Beilschmidt? Wasn't she the one who died two years ago or so? Damn it, Teddy, get it straight, you are in the past. She died 18 years in the FUTURE. Gosh, I'm such an idiot, Teddy thought to himself. He was just about to facepalm himself again, when he stopped himself from looking weird, and continuing on with their conversation. "Name's Theodore Lupin! At your service!" Teddy said thinking that if he was standing up he'd bow, so he'd just decide to do a mini-bow while in the bed. "I hate being hurt, it'll just get better eventually, body's are that way just for things like that!" Teddy said, not remembering how Eliza died, even though the two had gotten along pretty well, and gone on a few missions together. Now he felt bad. He didn't even know how she died. And he couldn't ask her, because that would be really weird, and she'd not know.
Teddy was smiling a very goofy smile, one Uncle Harry had said he must have gotten from his mother, his hair at the time having a slight turquoise tint to it. He'd been trying to get his Metamorphagus powers to work, but apparently since was still injured, they wouldn't cooperate, so a tint of the color was all he could manage.

She couldn't help but laugh. He was...goofy, very goofy. It was nice to meet someone who was positive about things; most everyone was still drifting around with their eyes focused somewhere else. She didn't think that she could stand another day o watching everyone just act like robots; it drove her nuts. The fact that she'd been cooped up in the school for days didn't help much, either.
"I can't stand it, either ," she agreed. "Pomfrey is eternally reminding me to come back for my treatments. She never misses a chance to remind me of the gory consequences that mein internal injuries could cause later in life."
Which apparently included death. Oh, how pleasant...

It was quite nice that today, just like yesterday, someone helped him escape the humdrum-like state of this infernal hospital wing. He never liked being held in one spot, because then it would get all boring, and he didn't cope with boring well. Yesterday, well he liked the visit from Victoire a lot, and this day probably wouldn't be as amazing as seeing the one he loved with all his heart after a long time, but it would be better than if he had no one to talk to. And she laughed, well he was one used to people laughing at him, because, as Vicky put it, he was a funny guy. He liked being a funny guy anyways, mostly because that was just how he was.
"You too? She's keeps going on about how if I don't stay still I could loose the use of my legs, and then puncture my lungs with my broken ribs, and well... I won't go into anymore detail," Teddy said happily using his hands as he spoke, as he wanted to move and that was just about the only part of his body he could control almost completely freely, even though they were still a bit sore. He laughed at the face of pain, because he would overcome it! Because he was the Mighty Teddy Bear! That... sounded... AWESOME... at least to Teddy. Maybe he'd make it into a comic!
Yeah he always figured Madame Pomfrey blew everything out of proportion, it wasn't like he was going to die if he walked around and did what he wanted to do. Or would he? He still couldn't remember how in the world Eliza died, but he had narrowed it down, because he knew she didn't die in a battle.

She guessed that he'd expect her to wince or something, but she was from East Germany. She'd watched people's lives bleed out as they laid in the snow at the foot of the wall. It took a lot to freak her out, and no amount of blood could make her lose her head. So she just laughed softly and shook her head when he stopped with his description of the horrors Madame Pomfrey had informed him that he would fall victim to. She'd been told similar things, though the description had ended with Her in bed hacking blood up in copious amounts before dying. ((Incidentally, the way she died. She contracted a nasty fever that, combined with her pre-existant complications, did her in.))
"I see you've also heard her tales of death by internal bleeding and being bedridden," she commented. "A section of the roof fell on me during the battle and damaged my internal organs. Apparently, had I not received medical attention, the complications that would arise from the damage would've eventually killed me."

Then it hit him! How could he be so stupid? Yeah, now he remembered how she died. It was some sort of injury she contracted about this time, and... well he didn't know details, but there was blood, yeah. Teddy banished those thoughts from his head, before thinking that as the first work of business for the Mighty Teddy Bear, he would save her from those injuries... unless... maybe he was too late? Geez, he was so useless when it came to remembering specific facts.
"Yeppers, unfortunately," Teddy replied still smiling, even if the topic was a not happy one, "Well it's a good thing you got checked out then. I know a guy who's amazing at healing, and while he's still a kid, he's usually done my healing. Much better than Pomfrey because he rarely restricted me to a bed, and spares me from those terrible stories. But it's also good that you got checked out, so that these complications didn't arise and kill you premature...ly." He slowed down at that last part because he finally got it all straight. He just hoped that she didn't notice his weirdness at the end. These injuries must have been the ones that killed her what... 18 years in the future or something... no it was longer, more like 24 or something? It didn't matter anyways. But he felt bad for not figuring out it sooner, especially since it had smacked him in the face a couple times already.

She held up a finger as she coughed into the handkerchief again, scowling when it started turning red. Really? Only one of the stupid things? Pomfrey obviously had unrealistic expectations about how long she would be out. Silly woman, didn't she realize how long it took to get to the Hospital Wing from the dungeons?
"Sorry," she mumbled. "It's a side-effect of my treatments. Annoying, if you ask me. I guess you're right about the premature death thing, though; I still wouldn't have gotten them checked out if not for that Hufflepuff who tattled on me. She had some weird name like Marietta."

Teddy wasn't phased one bit by blood! Well, if there was a lot he did, especially on that one mission to the US where he found their 'Order' equivalent group all dead on the ground with blood everywhere. That phased him, but coughing up a bit wasn't bad at all to Teddy, he'd seen worse.
"Oh no it's ok..." Teddy said as the name Marietta clicked with him; that was her daughter! That little girl had probably saved her mother's life, so he wasn't going to go preach to the girl about undesired consequences or something, "Marietta, huh? I think I've seen her around. How did she know you were injured?"

He had too much of a stomach for blood to be from America, she noted suspiciously. She'd seen the reactions of Americans to blood during the reunification when some of them had come to help out. Even the bravest among them got at least a little squeamish around blood; they just didn't like it. She guessed that it came with the territory when there weren't many bloody attacks on your nation's soil. They weren't used to seeking blood, so they didn't react well to it.
"I have no idea how she knew; she ran off before I could ask," she replied. "Weird little kid. I don't even know where she came from. I didn't see her during the battle."

Well Teddy actually had no clue how to act American, so he just was acting like himself. The Americans couldn't be that different, right? He had a feeling he was going to be the one to blow everyone's cover. He almost already did too with calling his parents, well his parents. But this was the best he could do. It was hard pretending to not know what is going to happen. He was someone who wasn't one for just sitting around and letting people die if he knew they were going to gey hurt or something. He was the Mighty Teddy Bear for Pete's Sake! He wanted to save everyone!
"That's really weird. How would she know if she didn't see you get injured," Teddy wondered. Of course he was playing dumb, but he wondered how that girl was going to play it off. Maybe he'd try to talk to her and explain the importance of good simple lies to tell, and maybe then suspicions won't rise as much if even one more was even more careful.
((Sorry if there are a bunch of typos, I'm on the road and on my phone))

She decided not to question him about his dubious nationality, but in the back of her mind, under the name Teddy Lupin, she added the words pretending to be American. A person that had never met an American might not realize it, but they were very different from everyone else in the world. Up until he'd just shrugged off the blood, he'd passed for a very good one. She hadn't even realized that he was faking; different regions of America had different people's and traditions.
"Maybe she saw but I didn't see her, maybe it was a lucky guess on her part, I couldn't tell you," she shrugged. "Like I said, I'll have to ask her the next time I see her."

Teddy didn't know that Eliza had already was suspecting him of not being from America. He was always the thick one when it came to spotting distrust or suspicion from others. Heck, once in an undercover meeting the Death Eaters knew he wasn't who he said he was, and almost killed him without him even realizing it, but someone had come to his rescue. That was something he was trying to fix, but when he tried he was almost too suspicious, and had been struggling to find a good in between. But he was still not there.
"Well if there is anything I can do to help find out about this little Hufflepuff, I would be happy to help. And well, if you need a favor, I may consider it," Teddy said trying to get up, but Madame Pomfrey's spell prevented him from getting up. He really hated this, even if it still hurt like fire to move, he was a mobile guy and didn't belong in a bed. "Well once I get out of this infernal bed."

The average person would probably be fooled into thinking that he was American, she noted. He did a good job of pretending. It was tiny things, really, that had tipped her off. His speach had a lilt that spoke of a carefully-veiled British accent; the syntax of his sentences was a little too proper to be American. She'd learned to observe these things as a child; she'd spied for the resistance to the Death Eater leadership of East Germany. She came to the conclusion from everything that she'd noticed that Teddy was most definitely a Brit pretending to be a Yankee, but he was harmless. She would continue to observe and see what she could learn about him.
"That would be appreciated, comrade, but don't push yourself too hard," she scolded. "You do no-one any good by causing yourself further injury."
She'd always been like that. She tended to be more concerned with the health of others than of herself. It had lead to injury and risk-taking throughout her entire life.
