"I think what makes me feel so old around them is how old they seem," she admitted. "It's just not natural, the way they act sometimes. They're kids in age only."
Of course, what she viewed as unnatural and what they viewed as unnatural were probably drastically different things. It seemed that the laws of the world as Lisa knew them were turned on their head for the purposes of the Italian government. She didn't quite know how she felt about that; it all seemed so strange, but maybe that was because she was from what was technically Western Europe.

"It doesn't matter how old they act. They are still kids, even if in age only. They should enjoy their childhood as much as they can," Harry said almost getting angry at the way she acted like they were pretty much adults, "Even when I was fighting when I young, I still was a child, no matter how much I wanted to be an adult. Looking back, I wish I never had to fight, but I had no choice. If I hadn't maybe I wouldn't be so ready to die by now."
He was a middle aged man. Or middle aged for a normal person who didn't fight in war most of their life. Sure, he didn't fight the war when he was in school really, but he was pretty much alone, besides the DA and Order eventually. But he was alone with Hermione and Ron to help him defeat Voldemort in his first year, kill a basilisk in his second year, free his godfather and save themselves from a werewolf without Wolfsbane in his third, and he was alone when he fought Voldemort in the graveyard in his fourth, and he still managed to bring Cedric back with great personal risk to do it with, retrieve a prophecy and fight Death Eaters in the Ministry in his fifth, learn of Horcruxes, retrieve a horcrux (a fake one), battle Death Eaters and chase after supposed murderer in his sixth, and break into the Ministry, retrieve a horcrux, get out safely, avoid detection by Voldemort for a long while, loose a friend for awhile, almost die from a snake, get the sword, destroy the horcrux, go to Lovegood's place and almost get caught and die from this big exploding horn, get caught by Snatchers, escape from Voldemort once again just before he arrived, break into Gringotts and escape on a dragon and fight a huge battle at Hogwarts before losing, all in his seventh year.

"When a war is being fought on your doorstep, I think most anyone would be hard-pressed to enjoy their childhood," she pointed out mildly. "But I agree. I think it's just...wrong, unnatural. No kid should be that desensitized to killing others like they are."
Lisa still wasn't desensitized to things like that, even after growing up where she had. She became squeamish around blood and hated the thought of anyone getting hurt, so it was hard to imagine that anyone, especially kids, could just be okay with fighting and killing. Differences in environment, she supposed, but it didn't make it right. She hoped that she wouldn't make similar mistakes to the ones made by the Cavaliere with their children...granted, Lisa had always been fairly certain that she'd be a bad mother. Look at how Jak turned out!

"I doesn't matter. There was a scramble to prevent a war, and I was one of the few who actually was doing something. And yet, I still enjoyed myself, sometimes," Harry stated, feeling it was true.
It took him awhile to start killing, though, even if people were trying to kill him. He had to say the first time he killed a person was two years after the Battle of Hogwarts, a few months before Victoire was born. Then again, it probably wasn't the same as those Italian kids had it, he had to admit.

"This war wasn't preventable; it's been going on for sixteen years. The Italians are actually so used to civil war at this point that they go about their regular lives like nothing's wrong. It's like they've all given up on there ever being peace," she shook her head. "I wish they could see it through those kids' eyes. I don't even know how some of them stand it; I thought Angelina in particular would've had a break-down years ago. She's on the execution squad, technically, but I don't think she's ever acted as a member. I don't think she's capable of killing anyone outside of an actual battle."
And even when it was in an actual battle, the kid broke down in a sobbing, hysterical mess after the adrenaline wore off. She was just not suited to killing. She was too soft-hearted, and her nature was too gentle. Angelina hated killing, hated blood and war. Lisa had been watching her carefully for years, worried that the girl would have a meltdown and nobody would comfort her.

"And here I was thinking I knew Angelina quite well..." Harry muttered, almost disappointed in himself for not knowing that Angelina was Curia. How could he have missed it? All those clues were quite clear now; why she used a sword when fighting, why when there was word about Anabelle's death she was affected much greater than anyone else. He should've known. He was such an idiot. "And apparently there was no preventing the war I was in, no matter how hard I tried."
Harry really hated the war he fought in. That first battle was terrible. Each battle he thought that he was going to loose everyone he cared about. His family and friends had multiple breakdowns. They weren't ready for any of it. Maybe it was slightly better to not have a childhood when one was young, because then they would be better prepared for it.

"She's not...very proud of some of the things that she's done as a member of the Curia. If she didn't tell you, it's because she was afraid that you would dislike her for it," Lisa explained, hoping that it helped. "Remember, she's a member of their execution squad. That is what it sounds like. She and a few others are responsible for executing traitors and prisoners of war. I think that Angelina outright avoids thinking about it. As for unavoidable wars...maybe all wars are unavoidable and we just like to think that they could've been prevented to make ourselves feel better."
Personally, Lisa hated all wars. She hated when people suffered; she wanted to help, not harm. Maybe that's why she'd always wanted to be a teacher. Unfortunately, it hadn't worked like that. One thing after another had gone wrong, and Lisa wound up working a series of worthless jobs that she hated. Maybe one day, she'd work at becoming a teacher...maybe.

"It's probably because I never asked," Harry said with a sigh, before thinking of how weird it would be for Angelina to think some weird 40 year old thinks he should know everything about her, "Avoiding thinking about things is exactly what is my problem right now. She shouldn't be doing that, or she'll end up wanting to die by the time she's middle aged."
"That's..." Harry said clenching his fist, thinking about the unavoidable wars, "That's not a good outlook on things. Anything can... can be prevented, if there are enough people to work at it." The thought that had kept him going was that he could make it so he didn't have to go through all of that again. Never again would he have to go through losing his wife, family and friends.

"If we're being honest, I think that Angelina wants to die, anyway, sometimes. She can be so reckless...it worries me," Lisa admitted. "I know that not thinking about it is how she copes, and I've seen how she gets when she does think about it, but it's still just...not healthy. I wish she'd open up more, let someone help her. She's the type that tries to help everyone and never wants to accept it when someone tries to help her."
That genuine desire to help everyone had been the first thing that clued Lisa into Angelina's nature; the girl could be so hard to read sometimes. Lisa had easily that she was a genuinely good person, though, and not suited to the life she was born to. Turning people like Angelina into soldiers, especially when they were so young, should be considered a crime. Didn't anyone know how much it wrecked that girl to fight and kill every day, nonstop.
"Then maybe enough people didn't care in time," she sighed. "Which is almost as bad."

"I know that all too well," Harry said looking to the side, before quickly adding something to cover his statement of knowing Angelina well, "Because I'm that way sometimes..." Hopefully that wouldn't arouse suspicions. "Perhaps George can get her to open up more."
Harry had a feeling that George didn't help too much, except in the times of peace when they actually had time to relax and just talk and be together. But then again, Harry was busy most of the time and couldn't really pay much attention to the mental state of those under his command. He just had to keep as many alive as he could.
"I think that this war, here in Britain can be prevented. All of those who came with me, Curia, Japan, and Germany are here just for that. Really, it's already started, but if it's not stopped now, it'll blow up into a terrible war," Harry stated trying to keep his hopes up, but really on the inside he was doubting it.

"I hope he can. She's a good kid; I just wish she wasn't so damn hard to read sometimes," Lisa admitted. "It'd probably be easier to help her out if she wasn't."
Then again, Angelina probably didn't want to be helped. Lisa knew that some of Angelina's older relatives never did, especially the girl's older brother, Jared. He was hell-bent on doing everything for himself; Lisa suspected that it was because everyone had helped him with everything after he lost his voice. They probably would've let him be more self-reliant back then if they knew they were creating such a stubborn adult.
"From what I've gathered, the Eastern Coalition was originally only going to act as neutral observers to prevent things from getting too out of hand. It wasn't until an alliance between You-Know-Who and the Auditore, who have been the Curia's primary enemy in that civil war that's been going on for sixteen years, was made that they began to consider entering in a more active way. What ultimately sealed the deal was the Ministry beginning to close down their consulates, effectively breaking diplomatic ties and unbinding their hands in terms of actions in the war," she explained.

"It's usually like that. The ones who need the most help don't want help, whether because they want to do everything by themselves or something else, it seems that it usually is true," Harry stated, having a feeling that it might be the same for him.
He had only accepted the help/advice from Analisa because he knew that he could trust her, and the fact that he didn't know her well except through stories. Harry really didn't like when people who looked up to him and expected him to succeed through everything, thought that he needed help.
"There's got to be more," Harry said as he thought of it. It didn't happen last time, and so he had a feeling their arrival had prompted the Curia to come, "It didn't happen last... I mean, It just seems so sudden." Harry immediately focused more, and put up his guards so that something like that wouldn't slip again.
