Liz hummed softly as she finished wiping down the counter-tops and arranging the display case. She'd gotten some soda machines installed recently; it had quickly proved to be a size idea. More and more people were coming in every day, to the point that she was starting to think about hiring a helper or two. She'd look into it more seriously in a day or two. Now wasn't exactly the best time.
She sighed and fished a mug out of a nearby cabinet. She was officially open, but she wouldn't have any real business for a while yet. Might as well take some time to drink her daily coffee and eat some breakfast.
She leaned against the counter and watched people beginning to fill up Diagon Alley, families mostly. She wondered what her parents were up to at that moment. She knew that her mother was pregnant; George had come in proudly crowing about how he'd be an uncle. Were they setting up the nursery? Her aunt had shown her pictures of the nursery Lisa and Fred had set up for her. Little white crib, blue walls, white curtains. It had been a pretty room, but she hadn't lived in it. She'd spent her early life at some super-great-aunt's house.
She sighed and shook her head to clear it of those thoughts. She knew that Teddy had some crazy plan to save her parents, and she had her own so maybe...
She jumped and smiled sunnily when she heard the bell announcing the arrival of a customer go off.
"Oh! Welcome!"

Mary Anne was by herself today, she was just a happy little perky girl walking through town. She had made several trips by herself to this place so she was going to be fine right? Yeah! She ended up finding the cutest shop she could see. She'd spent some time looking through the window thinking about her parents.
"Mommy, daddy! Look!" she would scream when they got back. She'd show them how cute and cozy it looked and theyed buy her what ever she wanted. They'd look at her and tell her how cute she was and how sorry they were for leaving her for a short time. Then she'd just be so happy! Everything would go right and she could visit her horses every day. Someone speaking brought her back to reality. She hadn't even realized she'd walked inside.
"Um, I, um... Hi! I'm Mary Anne!" she squeaked.

Liz smiled a little when she realized that the kid had been spacing. Liz hadn't ever dated much, and she certainly wasn't thinking much about marriage, so she didn't think she'd have her own kids any time soon. She recognized Mary Anne, though; in the future, she was married to Liz's cousin Julius. In this time, though, she was still a seven-year-old. It was weird to see someone that was seven years her senior as a child, Liz decided. She'd laugh about this later, privately.
"It's very nice to meet you, Mary. I'm Lisette, but you can call me Liz," she introduced herself.

Mary Anne looked a bit like she was trying to figure out what do. She didn't even have any money with her so how was she supposed to buy something? She felt really bad about being in there but then again... it was really tempting to buy something.
"It's nice to meet you too miss Liz." she smiled, "I wish I could buy something but I don't have any money with me."

Liz laughed and shook her head. Of course she couldn't pay! She was a little kid! Liz hadn't expected her to have money, and business was good at the moment, so she could afford a freebie or two every now and then. It wouldn't affect her income too horribly, and she was sure Mary Anne wouldn't eat her own weight in chocolate or anything.
"It's on the house," she reassured the kid. "I wouldn't have expected you to pay."

"Really?" Mary Anne asked. "You'll just give me something?" she had stars in her eyes. She looked around for a way to get back to give Liz a hug. It took her about five minutes to find it. When she got back there she hugged Liz's legs and laughed. "I wish I had a sister like you, I don't have anyone but Mr. Greene and my horses." she smiled.
She looked up at Liz with her blue eyes, you'd never expect her to have gone through so much. She was always so happy, care-free and laughing. No one really understood why.

Liz laughed and kneeled to hug Mary back. She was a cute little kid; Liz kind of wished that she had a younger sibling. She loved her cousin Griffin to bits, but she would have been a lot less lonely as a kid if she'd had a sibling. She'd always felt like the odd one out when around her aunt, uncle and cousin. They were a family, but hers was dead. She knew that; she wasn't stupid.
"I actually don't have any siblings," she admitted. "So we'll pretend that I'm your big sister, okay?"

Mary Anne laughed. She loved having friends who hugged her. She missed it when she had friends who were actual people.
"I have horses, but they aren't like real people." she smiled. "Yay I have a new big sister!!" she clapped. She was really happy, "Do you have lemon filled doughnuts? Because I want a doughnut."
