((OOC Note: This will take place after Growing Pains, where I believe James will join the party, and Ron is not yet back, so... The three main people would be Harry, James, and Hermione. And a note to Hermione, Harry had left the camp and had hoped to be back before she awoke, but he was caught in a fight, and I see it as he arrives probably a little bit after she had woken up and found Harry missing.))
Harry had been heading back to the camp set up that he and Hermione had been living in for only about a day, albeit later than he supposed. He had made a stupid decision on a rash impulse. Harry had been missing his friends at Hogwarts, and had disguised himself as best as he could. Despite the danger, Harry, which Harry had conveniently forgot, he had visited Hogsmeade, and was discovered by the Lupins of his true identity, and was attacked by Death Eaters. All in all, a fun trip.
And what was even better than meeting with the Lupins, he met his father. His father had come back to life. While they didn't know how, there was no mistaking it was his father. Even Remus was convinced it was him. Just wait until Hermione found out about him! Harry was excited, a bit sore in the head, and still in one piece. James Potter had joined him, and he was heading back.
"Here we are," Harry said looking at what seemed an empty forest before he stepped through the barriers, and saw the tent not too far away. "Hermione?" Harry called out towards the tent, hoping she wasn't quite up yet, though he bet she was, since he was later than he was supposed to be. Hermione was always punctual to relieving him of watch duty.

James followed his father to their camp because he had no idea where it was supposed to be. Dad senior never talked about this part of his life with any of his children. He understood that it was a sore subject and never insisted on it. Though right now it would've been better to know a bit about these events under Harry's own perspective so he could help the trio better, but he was just as good going with the flow as he was planning in advance. It was just safer to plan things first, specially in a war zone when you are beside the main target.
James carried himself with a permanent smile on his face. He was indeed happy. Not only he had managed to convince his father's younger self to bring him along for this ride, but also he had managed to make him a bit happier and certainly more hopeful about his own situation after he made him sure that he wasn't trying to avoid him nor was he rejecting him because he took one and a half year to show himself to Harry. James had to prepare himself and get situated in order to make himself useful to his father, his aunt and his uncle as he hoped he'd be able to be now.
"Wonderful! Can't wait to actually talk to your best friends instead of just looking at you with them from a distance. As I've promised you at the safehouse, Harry… No more hiding in the shadows from me… Oh! Except for this, off course, but we'll be hiding together now." James said in a low tone of voice, keeping his smile open at all times.
James was getting the chance to get closer to his deceased uncle Ron and aunt Hermione. They had both died, together with his mother Ginny, when James was just five years old. He remembered them more than his siblings or their own children did, but still not that well at all. He was extremely excited due to this and the chance to continue bonding with his father as he had missed that in the last few years.
