As Clarie walked down the corridors of the castle, she wondered what to do. Although she was in the mood to read something, she didn't know what or where to go. The library was too crowded for her liking and to top it off, there was noone for her to talk to until it died down.
She was just pacing up and down the corridors of Hogwarts killing time. Though going to the dorms sounded like a good idea, Clarie hadn't a single book there. She always read books at the library and then returned them to where they go and went on her way to class or bed. And the crowds in the library always distracted her attention.
Either someone near her was doing something annoying with their hand gestures or a kid was talking to some other one. They never took in consideration that others go there because they liked it, not because they had to be there. Oh well, Clarie thought absent mindedly as she walked up and down, completely unaware of her surroundings.
The fact that there was nothing to do here had made her bored out of her mind. If only she had a friend or two to help pass time until the late afternoon, then she could go to the library and relax. This was more than bordom, it was as if she could feel herself losing brain cells or that she was just going to end up a zombie because of this and become a cannible. Though that thought made her chuckle, she wondered if that had ever happened to someone before? If it had, they must have been psychopathic or just so bored, it made them psychopathic.

Albus had just left his last class of the day and one of his favorite ones, Potions. Slughorn was a great teacher in his point of view. His arms had his books pilled up on them, their weight making his back slightly arched forward. Surely the boy was carrying a lot more than just his Potions materials. Albus was the true definition of a bookworm. The brainy type. He had loved books since he had learned how to read them with his grams, Molly Weasley, at the age of 6. His taste, though, on what he enjoyed reading certainly had changed by now.
Absentmindedly; well actually he was thinking about his Potions homework, how to help spy on the Death Eater supporter students not let the future be so horrible, how to calm his father now that James was gone and was currently on the run with the former's younger self, Ron and Hermione; Albus left the classroom and walked down the corridor in the direction of the dungeons where the Slytherin dorms were located. There was just so much in his mind that it had no free space to process the input of his eyes or so it seemed.
Albus only noticed there was an obstacle on his path when he collided with it, which made his books and Potions ingredients fall from his arms to the ground. Thankfully no major damage anywhere, it seemed. "I'm so sorry! I wasn't paying attention…" He apologized without delay. He was a polite boy. His victim had her back to him at the moment of the collision, so he couldn't recognize her. Truth be told he probably wouldn't recognize her anyway as it was clear by the length of her hair and the beginning to show curves of her body that he was in the presence of a girl.
Albus, being the dork he is, had no guts to approach girls who weren't his sister, his cousins, Sophie Lupin, the mom type already or his female teachers who were much older than him. James was always pestering him that he'd never get himself a girlfriend unless he did all the sweet talking for him and his older brother was probably right about it. Albus wasn't an idiot nor totally socially inept though, he was just so shy he simply didn't know how to function beside a girl. As he kneeled to start collecting his fallen belongings, all that was going through his mind was 'Please, don't look at me. I don't want to embarrass both of us…'

C laire's thoughts were disrupted when she felt something jolt in the back of her and make her stumble. She didn't say anything at first and slowly turned around to see a boy who looked scared out of his wits. The first thing Clarie noticed about the boy was his robes. They were Slythierin, not that she hated them but most would knock her over and laugh. Not apologize to her.
As she searched his face for a brief moment, Clarie thought something was strangely familar about him but dismissed the thought. She has probably seen him in the halls for years and never thought much of it. Surely that was it. Minus the familararity in his features, the boy looked petrified. As if she would be one to hurt him, Clarie thought to herself.
"Don't worry about it, accidents happen." Clarie said, a gleaming smile spreading across her face.
She looked at the ground around the boy, books and ingredients for classes were all over the place. How did he manage to carry that much in his arms? Oh well, might as well help. She thought and bent down to pick up some of the books that lay scattered.

Albus was focusing on getting his things together when Clarie spoke to him. He froze for a second before slowly raising his chin so he was looking at her face. He had always been taught that one should look at the person he is talking to, no matter how hard it might be. Trust that this was difficult for the boy. "Sure. Sure. I just… uh… thought I should… say something… It's not nice to run into people in the corridor…" He said not very sure nor clearly. If he were aiming at sounding like a total retard, he'd be doing a great job. He was kicking himself mentally at how stupid he sounded.
Albus is a brilliant boy, though, and owner of a logical mind. It showed in the sort of books he was carrying with him besides the normal didactical school ones. A couple of them were written by Giovanni Cavaliere, who was now their DADA assistant professor. He was actually excited about that. He could finally ask him, who was no longer available to answer anything at his own time, the many questions he had on his work about the nature of magic and why and how certain magic manifested.
Albus seemed to finally have registered the fact that Clarie was also bent down helping him out after a couple of minutes. "You don't need to do this. I've got it covered." He said not wanting to see her overextend herself. Five thick books and his Potions case weren't exactly lightweight. Though he was glad she had helped him with collecting and storing his Potions ingredients back into their case. He managed to open a small, shy smile of thanks before speaking again. "Thanks for helping me. Not many would. I'm one of the snakes anyway…" He said looking down at his robes for a moment and using the nickname the Slytherin students had at the school for generations already, the green in them making the one of his eyes even more perceptible.

At his words, Clarie tried to understand how in the world he was a Slytherin. Sure, she wasn't one who tried to judge a book by their covers but even she had found herself slip up every now and again. This boy had a different personality than most of the Slytherin here. Arrogant as they are, he seemed the complete opposite. It was odd, very odd.
Clarie raised her chin and spoke with a smile in return, "To be honest, I normally don't especially when I see a slytherin coming my way since they're ninety nine percent trouble, especially this year. But when you apologized, I noticed you were not like them. It's pleasant."
Her eyes widened at what her last two words were. Clarie wasn't one to say that sort of thing upfront but just so she wouldn't embarrass herself further, she added, "Because it means not all of them are heartless in times like these."
Even though what she had said didn't seem too harmless, she never knew when someone would take a compliment the wrong way. For all she knew, he would take it as an insult towards his friends or even girlfriend. It's happened once or twice and told her brother as he teased her with a big 'I told you so' smile.
One of the many things her brother taught her before he dropped out of school was to never, ever say any complementary things to a student she didn't know. Though Clarie never really knew why, she sensed that maybe it was because anytime he always said nice things, they backfired. He was a Gryffindor at the time though and when he was back in school always fell for the meanest Slytherin girls. But with all his nonsense, maybe he knew what he was talking about so Clarie normally kept those sorts of things to her self and when she slipped up, try to cover it with a silly phrase.

Albus picked up his books and then accepted when Clarie placed his Potions ingredients case over them. The balance of his belongings again was fragile. Her smile made him freeze on his tracks again when she spoke. Oh, why he had to be so shy? This was absurd! That was just an innocent encounter on the corridor. It wasn't even anything important. "It's true, I must confess. My house mates can be very… unpleasant sometimes. I try to be fair instead." He replied to her kindly. Albus wasn't someone to be offensive with whom didn't prove repeatedly to deserve that. In that he was like his sister Lily.
Albus was starting to get a bit worried about the overall situation. Not because he thought she was some kind of Death Eater spy trying to out him as a supporter of the other side, but because every time he got this anxious it became increasingly more difficult to control his active power. He was afraid he might just freeze Clarie in time temporarily. No! He wouldn't do that. All he had to do was concentrate the conversation on something that made him feel at ease or something that made him forget that she was a girl and keep his hands occupied with heavy objects. His books were a good place to start.
"Do you like reading?" Albus asked out of the blue as he smiled shyly. "As you can see they are my best friends. It's like that since I was a boy. Not that I don't have people friends, I do. It's just that my books are between my most precious possessions after my family. Thankfully none of them was harmed… and you too weren't harmed, off course." He revealed a bit nervously, but beginning to reign himself in.
"Oh!… I'm being rude. Sorry again. Not my intention. My name is Albion Prewett. Yes, Albion like Britain's oldest known name from the time of Merlin, Arthur and the knights of the round table… I would shake hands if I could." He introduced himself politely and then looked down at everything he was carrying to excuse himself for not shaking her hand.

Clarie could tell by the way this boy talked he was nervous, or scared. She wasn't too sure which, but he was in Slytherin for a reason and maybe he was nervous because if she said something wrong, he would go crazy. Though Clarie had never seen a Slytherin that was like that, she had certainly heard of her fellow house mates talking about it. That would be bad, so it was best to stay on the safe side of things here.
"You have a lovely name Albion. My name is Clarie Maybelle, I'm a fifth year and to answer your question I do love books. I actually want to be a writer once I graduate from Hogwarts. It would be marvelous.! She didn't really know what else to say about this but then again, it would be rude to talk about herself to a person she had just met. It would make Clarie feel as though she were one of the popular kids who talked and talked all about themselves.
But since she didn't know this boy, maybe it was best not to ask any questions to Albion. In fact, she was slighly puzzled by him. There was something strange about him, not that he carried too many books and ingrediants or that he was a little shy but she hadn't really seen him before. Ever. Maybe Clarie didn't notice because she was wrapped up in her own world, she assured herself. Or he was a transfer student. Either way, no harm it was doing her to find out so she dismissed the thoughts.
She bit her tongue when she almost questioned him being in Slytherin and just gave him a smile instead that was most likely unnecessary. Clarie had to remind herself that she wasn't the one who had authority to know others business. But how many slytherins did she knew who liked books? None, they were too busy talking about purebloods and evil doings to fellow students to read!
