"Cars? You mean those rolling metal deathtraps?" Tristan asked with a laugh, thinking that cars were quite odd. He was more of a bicycle person when it came to muggle transportation. Then again, he didn't know that much about the muggle world. He blamed that on the fact he didn't take Muggle Studies and the fact he always lived in wizarding communities or traveling around from place to place. "As for Quidditch, it's not that bad, once you get used to the weird feeling of being up in the air, I play keeper for the Slytherin team."
He liked Quidditch, personally, but that was because it let him feel free, and clear his conscious for those moments of the plague in his mind of him thinking he killed his father. It was a stupid notion to keep dwelling on it after so long, but Tristan didn't seem to get over the fact that he killed someone. Which, in reality, he hadn't.

"I like them! I own one!" she admitted with a laugh. "My aunt Marissa had been dismantling and reassembling an engine for months one year when she finally decided that, since the car wasn't very sensible, she couldn't give it to her eldest son, Gabe, since he had children. She gave it to me instead. And I fell down two floors and nearly broke my back as a kid; I hate heights."
It was kind of embarrassing; her aunt Marissa, her father Chris, and her uncle Vinny were all pretty famed members of their respective House Quidditch teams. Hell, her uncle had been Italy's star Quidditch captain and Beater. Tal just hated heights.

"You willingly get into one of those rolling hunks of metal?" Tristan asked a bit surprised any witch or wizard would do such a thing, before laughing slightly, "Is it safe?" Tristan was one of those people who didn't trust muggle technology hearing about all those accidents and such. "Ouch. I probably wouldn't like either if that happened to me."
Tristan's whole family was a bunch of people he didn't know much about. So he couldn't say if or if not his parents were Quidditch stars or anything. It was actually quite sad, especially since he lived with his father for several years, before he died, and yet Tristan didn't know anything about him, except that his last name was Clark and that he hated Tristan.

"Of course they're safe! I wouldn't get in one if it wasn't...okay, I would, but I promise that it's safe!" she insisted. "Maybe you could visit sometime and I could prove it."
Her dad usually teased her about her fear of heights, but Chris was just one of those people. If he wasn't making jokes, he'd get really mad really fast. He'd passed that trait off to her elder brother Alistair. It was part of the reason that Talon had never really dated.

"Well if you promise, I might give it a try," Tristan replied with a small laugh, "Just don't get me killed in one of those."
Death by car. A really odd death for witches and wizards to die from, especially since they can just apparate out, but they do happen occasionally. But, if she promised they were safe, he would give it a try. He may not know this girl very well, but he liked her, and actually trusted her slightly. Something odd for Tristan as he usually was very slow to trust.

"Oh, I won't! Contrary to popular belief, not all Italians drive like bats out of hell, you know," she teased.
She was surprised that she was even willing to let him visit. Talon usually didn't trust outsiders; a side-effect of growing up in the middle of a civil war. She kind of wanted to trust him, though, and she hated overthinking things (because she came to odd conclusions), so she'd trust him until he gave her a reason not to.

"Well I hope you're one those Italians who aren't crazy drivers," Tristan responded, still smiling, though not like a huge crazy smile, just a relaxed one, "I think it will be interesting to see how it is the muggles get around in such odd contraptions."
There was something about this girl that seemed to draw Tristan in. Whether it was because he was pleasantly surprised that she was tough and quite nice, or something else, he didn't know. Maybe it was because he was quite mesmerized by her eyes when he first saw her, or something else.

"I'm not!" she insisted. "I drive very well, thank you! I even drive legally; I have a license and everything!"
Okay, that was a big deal. She'd been smoking illegaly since she was ten. Actually, she did a lot of things that she shouldn't. Oh, well, she was helping fight a war. Did they expect her to act like a typical near-seventeen-year-old?

"They give out licenses?" Tristan asked, feeling dumb, "I really don't know much about muggles obviously. But then again, some of those crazy drivers probably have a license. Do they give them out to just anyone?"
Tristan didn't know about her being all war experienced, though there was a rumor about a civil war with the Italians, she might have been a part of. He had yet to determine if that rumor was true. If the Italians were grown-ups before 17, and there was a civil war, though, Tristan had no doubt she would be fighting. She seemed like the type that would.

"Si, there are licenses involved. You have to be a certain age and pass tests to get them," she explained. "I got mine a few years ago. I'm technically not supposed to drive a car becaue my license is for motorcycles and mopeds, but we're going to keep that between us."
Her mother and father had been okay with it because they figured that if she was old enough to fight and kill, she was old enough to drive. She was working on getting that motorcycle! Really, she was! It just hadn't happened yet...

"I promise I won't tell a soul," Tristan promised with a laugh, "Maybe I could try to get one of those licenses, might be useful later."
Tristan was clueless when it came to muggle stuff, but he was good at reading people, usually. And he usually was able to manipulate people do to what he wanted, but for some reason he didn't want to do that with Talon. It was like that when he met Jason too, and his weird antics really rubbed off on him.

"I could teach you how to drive," she offered. "As long as you don't mind that it's technically illegal for me to drive a car for another year."
She wasn't usually this friendly with people she'd just met. To be honest, she wasn't usually friendly at all. She liked him, though. He was the first Brit that she'd met that she did like.

"I would not mind one bit," Tristan said, adding just so he was safe and all, with a chuckle, "As long as you are sure you know how to drive correctly."
Hey, she was the first Italian he liked so far! Given, he hadn't met other Italians, but still, it was true. Tristan felt like he was really connecting with Talon here. Maybe he was just attracted to make friends with the Italians. He would ask Jason later if he was part Italian and then maybe it would prove it!

She wrinkled her nose and stuck her tongue out at him jokingly. In terms of a first friend to make, he wasn't a bad one. Her dad would just be glad that she'd made friends, although that would probably change after he realized that her new friend was a guy. Her dad could be really crazy sometimes.
"I drive very well, grazie! I've been driving for four years, now!" she insisted proudly.
Mostly illegaly, but still!

Ok, now he had to come up with a cute little response. Wait... what? Why was this girl making him think that he had to reply? He never felt the compulsive need to reply to anyone, even with Jason. The fact that he did reply, just meant he wanted to reply, not that he felt he needed to. What was this girl doing to affect him in this way? Weird.
"Well, experience doesn't always equate to being skilled in something," Tristan teased.
