"Papa was always creative, if nothing else," she chuckled. "I think that in the entirety of our seven years at Hogwarts, the only Italian anyone learned from him was expletives. Did you ever figure out your feelings on Sol, by the way?"
The Golden Trio. She'd been hearing about them from Sev for nearly seven years, now. She wasn't sure if they were funny or she wanted to strangle them. Sometimes she hovered between the two.
"Not since Papa retired, right? And I would hope not literaly, but you know my father," she laughed.

"Ah Marisol. I have yet to figure out if I like her or if I hate her," Sev said with a small chuckle, "She's one of the people I have yet to figure that out on."
Marisol was just one of those people. It was really odd because he had already found it out on pretty much everyone else. Either he hated them, or was friends with them, or he was protecting them. There was never anything in between. Unless you counted loving someone and them not liking him back, but that was just because he was an idiot at one point in his life. He was just hoping he was making up for it now.
"Exactly," Severus answered with a small nod, "Unfortunately for him, I may not tolerate too much literal whipping." Well, in reality, he might have to tolerate it. If he didn't let the Carrows punish how they wanted to, Voldemort may start suspecting him. Severus just hoped all of this spying would help pay it all off in the end.

"Her daughter goes here," Marissa recalled. "Little Angelina. She goes by Pyre around her classmates, I'm pretty sure. She's a sweet kid, kind of hyper, though."
None of them were sure how Angelina stayed so persistantly childish. The girl had been helping fight a civil war for most of her life! The first time Angelina had fought in a true battle had been when she was six, ten years ago. Nothing seemed to faze her, though; Marissa suspected that she kept her real feelings on everything to herself.
"Oh, I'm sure that there won't be much literal whipping; my father is far too creative for that," she laughed. "There might be a lot of sticking to ceilings and long-lasting changes in hair color, though."

"Ah. The girl who is dating that Weasley boy, George," Sev recalled, "I know her. She isn't like her mother."
Well that had to be obvious. But, Sev just stated it because it was almost like (because he was Snape, he couldn't ever get too surprised, or at least that is what he hoped others thought with the exterior he put off) he was surprised that the little Angelina girl (well not so little) was actually Marisol's kid.
"Only if Potter's boy was attending this year. I would love to see his reaction to Professor Gio and his punishments. I would get some amusement of seeing that boy's hair turn a bright pink, or something similar," Severus replied, chuckling softly, looking out the window at the grounds. Dumbledore's tomb was in sight as well. I really hope you know what you're doing, Sev though to himself, meaning Dumbledore and himself knowing what they were doing.

"No, she's not," Marissa agreed with a laugh. "She's a good kid. She was excited about getting back to school, even though it's only been a year since she graduated back home."
In Italy, all schooling past age fifteen was optional; the Cavaliere children only rarely continued to attend after they became legal adults. Even though Angelina liked school a lot, she'd chosen to join the war full-time once she came of age. Marissa thought it might have been one of the greatest atrocities of the war, the choices that the children were forced to make. No child should have to choose between school and helping to fight a war.
"Papa's been working on writing a book on disecting spells in his free time; he said that he'd make the students that he liked the least proofread the English version," she chuckled. "Dio knows, his spoken English is fine, but his written is atrocious.'

"Ah, right. You Italians graduate at 15 instead of 17," Severus said with a small nod.
He always found it odd that the kids in Italy were adults at 15, but that could be because the Italians he knew in school pretty much all graduated at the same time as he did. Sev didn't like the fact that there were 15 year olds fighting. But then again, even in Britain there were kids fighting the war. In fact, Dumbledore's Army, would undoubtedly form again this year and stir up trouble once more.
"It sounds interesting. I might even request to take a look at it, if I have anytime. Being a Headmaster keeps one quite busy," Sev commented, really thinking it could be interesting to read Professor Gio's book and might even learn a thing or two.

"It's an old practice. Back when our school was begun back in Italy, one could get married at fifteen. We wanted to make sure that everyone graduated, though, so the graduation age was set at the minimum age for marriage. It's something that nobody ever saw fit to fix," she explained.
An odd practice, she thought, but who was she to question centuries of tradition? That didn't mean she liked it; she absolutely hated that it put fifteen-year-old kids on a battlefield full-time. She hadn't resented the practice so much as a kid, she recalled; it had seemed normal to her. It was being a parent that changed her opinion on it.
"I've read over the Italian version of his book; it's pretty interesting. I'll talk to him about getting you a copy in English once it's translated and proofread," she promised.

"I see," Sev replied, still looking at Dumbledore's tomb, hoping that the Dark Lord wouldn't force them to move it, or disturb the respectful old man's grave, but if he ordered, Sev would have to do it, "While it seems odd, it's not my place to question your traditions."
Sev was quite tolerable towards others. Really, he didn't question others beliefs or systems, unless it meant it was hurting others. It was a quality he possessed even while a Death Eater, which is quite odd given what the Death Eaters did. It took him awhile for Snape to snap out of his Death Eater mindset of the muggles were the ones who forced them to hide and therefore so they wouldn't have to hide anymore, punish them for running them into hiding.
"I would greatly appreciate that," Sev answered grinning a slightly bit larger.

"I've always appreciated that about you," Marissa commented, following his gaze to Dumbledore's tomb. "A lot of others would call us worse than monsters for our practices."
Then again, Marissa had always been tolerant of his beliefs (even though she disagreed with them), so she supposed it had been a two-way street. Their friendship had been built on a mutual respect for the other's beliefs so long ago that Mari couldn't imagine breaking it off.
"I'm sure that he'll appreciate you reading it," she replied, smiling in return.

"Monsters? No. Your people just have different beliefs than we do. It would be like calling the Chinese evil for taking children from their homes when they are young to train them for various activities. From what I've learned, many families are happy, feeling it brings their family honor," Sev answered.
Damn it, Dumbledore, why did he have to leave so many questions unanswered? He didn't know why all these other countries had come to help, something about the 'transfers', which Sev knew the truth of their origin, being informed by Dumbledore. But, he couldn't help but think that he was missing something big. Whether it be the transfers, these other countries coming and trying to help them out, or something else, he didn't know. It could be everything he was missing, and he didn't know.
"I'm sure he would," Sev said. It would be nice to see Professor Gio again, even if he was tough.

"We're actually much more liberal now than when I was a kid. Training starts later; kids are given more freedom. I would've been withdrawn from school if a civil war had happened when I was growing up," she admitted. "I wish it hadn't come to your doorstep, though; there's so much else going on in England..."
One of her few regrets about the civil war was that it had spread so much. When it began, everyone had thought it would be over quickly. Then years passed with no signs of the conflict ending and now, this. It was blossoming into a World War, the last thing anyone needed so soon after the end of the Cold War seven years before.
"And Mama will be happy to have him out of the house!" she agreed with a laugh. "He's been so dreadfully bored since he retired."

"I am quite glad that you did not have to quit school early. It wouldn't have been the same without you," Sev replied, trying to remove his gaze from Dumbledore's tomb, but seeming to be unable to do so, "We can deal with it. At the moment, there is no real conflict. There may still some skirmishes and resistance, but otherwise, quite stable."
Not the stability he was wanting, but stability nonetheless, or as much as there could be with Voldemort in control. The Order was not going down without a fight, oh no. Sev was sure about that. If they did, he would be sorely disappointed in them. The had to fight. They really needed to, or everything he worked for would be completely pointless.
"Maybe Hogwarts will provide a good amount of fun for him," Sev replied.

"It won't last long," she predicted somberly. "Things seemed stable in Italy at first; look at us now. More than twelve years into the war, and it still doesn't look like it's close to ending."
It had been more like sixteen years since the war started, honestly. All of the children that were growing up now and fighting in the war had been very young back then; it was saddening to see them living the very life everyone had sought to keep from them. True, it was mostly their choice, but she didn't like it anymore because of that. She probably liked it less because of that; how had things gotten so bad that their children had to choose to help fight a war?
"Unfortunately for his students, he enjoyed teaching," she smiled a little.

"I suppose that is true," Sev agreed with a small nod, "There will probably always be unrest here. I just hope that what is happening now in Italy isn't a precursor to what will happen here."
That was a scary thought, even to Sev, who always put up the shield of not being scared of anything. He'd be willing to even admit it. He didn't want this war here to drag on for ages and ages, before it would finally come to an end. Hopefully soon, whatever Potter was doing, he would complete and defeat the Dark Lord. If one looked closely enough, one could see he clenched his fist ever so slightly when he had stated it.
"That is quite true, unfortunately," Sev said.

"Everyone in the East is buckling down. We're waiting for a World War," she admitted. "But I think we'll be fine as long as nobody from North America involves themselves."
It wouldn't be a true World War if they kept it contained to Europe. Nobody needed a World War; there were still people that remembered the last one. There was still pain drifting around from an entire generation lost. Still instability from the fall of the Soviet Union. So much uncertaintanty...
"He'll liven things up at the very least," she chuckled.
