"I wouldn't want him to be forced here, or be a burden," Sev replied with a smile, "Only if he's not too busy."
Truthfully, Gabe and Dame calling him Uncle Sev did cheer him up a little bit. He really did like the fact that he was their kids' godfather, and while he was Draco Malfoy's godfather as well, it was never really the same as with Mari's kids.
"That is a little eerie how they could look so much alike," Sev responded with almost a shutter.

"Oh, he won't mind," she replied. "He has some time off; I'll tell him to use some of it to drop by."
Gabe had been talking about dropping in to visit Sev, anyway. He missed his "uncle," at least that's what he'd said. Apparently, the last time he'd seen Sev, his god-father had been bailing him out of jail because he'd gotten into a fist fight while visiting his aunt Celesta at fifteen. That sounded a lot like her son, she had to admit. Gabe had inherited Marissa's nasty temper.
"She's Gwyn's spitting image; it scares me sometimes," Mari admitted, nearly shuddering.

"Paying me back for bailing him out of jail?" Sev joked slightly, before getting a little more serious, "That would be just great. It should be interesting to see what those two are like."
Sev had an idea from the letters he had received where Lexi and Julius was mentioned, and he actually was now looking forward to seeing them... Not that he liked children... just because he knew of them? Now he was really lying to himself about it, but he didn't really care as long as he kept fooling himself.
"Just the thought of it scares me," Sev replied.

"Has it really been five years since then?" she wondered with a laugh. "And they're...interesting, my granchildren. Lexi is very boisterous and hyper; Julius is...well, Julius is kind of weird, I won't lie. He's spacy and quiet."
She loved both of her grandchildren, but Julius sometimes freaked her out. He was perpetualy popping up out of nowhere and kind of...staring off into space. She sometimes worried that he had an attention deficit. He was a smart kid, though; she was sure that he'd do well in school when he entered. She needed to ask Gabe if he was sending Julius to Hogwarts or L'Accademia.
"Because she looks like Gwyn or because she acts like Gwyn?" Mari asked teasingly.

"Oh yes it has," Sev confirmed with a small nod, "Polar opposites of each other, I suppose. It should be an interesting visit to say the least."
The years seemed to be quite long for him in the past 6 years. Really ever since Harry Potter arrived at Hogwarts; before that, it seemed the years went extremely fast. The slow years weren't quite as entertaining as he hoped. They seemed to be extremely busy and dangerous, two things Sev didn't really like when it regarded him or anyone he cared about.
"A little of both," Sev replied, his smile growing ever so slightly larger. It seemed that of the late only his school friends could get him to really smile for real, and really Mari seemed to be the only one he had met up recently. A life without ever truly feeling happy, ever since Lily and Vinny died, until now it seemed.

"They are," she agreed with a laugh. "And Lexi's a Metamorphagus. I'm not sure exactly...what's going on with Julius...uh. He kind of...stares into space and draws a lot...the kid makes me a little uncomfortable sometimes."
Was that bad? Gabe had made her uncomfortable as a kid, too...hell, Gabe sometimes made her uncomfortable now that he was an adult. There was just something seriously not right with that boy's head, she was convinced, and she blamed it on Vin. Her late husband (God bless his soul) had been quirky and a little crazy, too.
"Yeah...I think I have to agree," she laughed. "It's crazy to think that she's dead, isn't it? Gwyn, I mean...of all people, her."
Gwyn Angeli had had a very large personality; she'd joined their group later, being the second Gryffindor member (Lorien had been the first; Lorien had eventually married the similarly-deceased Teagan Brookes of Slytherin House). Back when they'd met her, she'd still been Guinevere Lorraine, one of Gryffindor's more infamous Quidditch captains. Loud-mouthed, hotheaded, opinionated and sometimes just flat-out scary, none of them had been shocked when Ricki pursued her.

"A Metamorphagus? Just like Pyre?" Severus asked, remembering the little Hufflepuff girl, and how she was indeed a Metamorphagus like Nymphadora Tonks, or as he just found out Lexi, "At least Julius isn't a wild child, and I bet he's easier to handle than some of the kids that go here." Potter, Weasley, and before they left, those blasted Weasley twins, just to name a couple... there were plenty more that he couldn't handle. He would prefer the quiet staring-off into space kid, at least he thought that he would.
"I thought that she would at least go out fighting, " Sev sighed, "Going the way she did was no way for anyone to die, especially the loud-mouthed ones."
Heck, even Sirius Black went out fighting, James Potter, Lily Evans, sorry Lily Potter, Marlene Mckinnon, and so many others got to have that fighting death. Gwyn falling ill and dying was such a tragic way to die, not that being murdered was more tragic, but just thinking of Gwyn in her bed, sick as a dog, dying, was a terrible thought.

"That she is! It runs in the family, I guess," she joked. "Speaking of little Angelina, I was sure that my sister would murder that boyfriend of hers."
Marissa didn't dislike George Weasley, really. He seemed nice, and he took care of her niece very well. She worried for his health, though; her siblings didn't have the same tolerant attitude towards the Weasley family as Mari. The Weasleys were blood traitors, which put them in the bad books of much of the Cavaliere Famiglia (one did not betray their own mind after all), and now George was dating Angelina, daughter of the Demon of Rome. It was a bad move on his part.
"Losing her was bad enough," she agreed. "I just wish that it hadn't been like that. It's so weird to imagine her in bed like that..."
Especially since Mari had been there with her friend. Gwyn hadn't been herself in those last few weeks of her life. It had been unnerving.

"Ah, the Weasley boy," Snape said cracking another small smile, not because he liked the boy, but because he realized this was the first real conversation he had with someone who didn't care/knew he was doing as he thought was right and didn't really question him about it. Having someone who trusted him like that, was like he was back in school again with all his friends who trusted him. Then again, just how many were still around? Excluding Mari, he hadn't seen any of them in years, and most were dead by now. He hadn't realized this before because he was a bit more uptight and cautious, before letting his guard down with Mari and not even noticing it. It actually felt nice talking to her. "I wouldn't put it past Marisol, given your family's view of blood traitors."
Severus understood a lot of the Curia's ways, but there were some he never got. However, in Severus' mind the fact that no one betrayed another was a great thing; people like him would never be allowed, and he would've been spared the misery of the years he had lived, just because Dumbledore spared his life. He was grateful, but even still, he was alone. None of his friends were in England for very long, Lily was gone, and the only person left was Harry Potter, who was just as bad as his father... well not that bad. Anyways, in the grand scheme of things, out of all the Cavaliere customs, the one he understood best was the fact that they didn't betray each other... or at least they would be hunted down and most likely killed if the Cavaliere found out. Through it all, and deep, deep (mind you, really deep) down, he was a bit worried for George.
"We've lost too many," Severus stated shaking his head and looking away out towards the grounds once more, not at Dumbledore's tomb, but at what seemed like the sky. It was a bit sad, actually. He couldn't remember Gwyn's face, nor Vinny's, though the others he could remember quite well, even those who were dead as Gwyn and Vinny were. He wanted to recall what they looked like, but he simply couldn't seem able to do so.

"He's nice to Pyre, and her happiness is what matters to Marisol; I just get the feeling that my sister wishes that Pyre would find happiness with a nice Italian boy," she laughed.
Marisol was, in some ways, more secular than the rest of the Cavaliere Famiglia Heads had been, but she was a staunch traditionalist in other ways. That was one of them. She really resented that Pyre had fallen so quickly and madly in love with an Englishman; it probably stemmed from her deep and abiding grudge against the British for their refusal to help when the exiled Death Eaters began supporting the Auditore in the latest Civil War. It would have saved them all a lot of pain; even Mari had to admit that.
She pulled a photograph that had been taken in their Chris's seventh year at Hogwarts. They were all standing together; Vinny, Sev and Mari were towards the center. Mari and Sev were on either side of a laughing Vinny and he had thrown his arms across both of their shoulders. Gwen was standing to the side and slightly in front of Sev, long blonde hair in a messy braid as she laughed and rolled her eyes.
"Remember the day we took this?" she asked softly.

"I wouldn't doubt that George is nice to her," Snape shrugged, though he really did find George annoying,he had a good heart, a little too good of a heart, "He has a very good heart. I would be quite surprised if he didn't make her happy and treated her well." George just wasn't the kind of guy to be mean to those who didn't deserve it. Sure, George was a little prejudice, and would probably try to harm him if he ever came too close to him, but that was because his heart was in the right place.
Snape still didn't know what exactly his opinion was on Marisol and her distrust of the English. He knew it was for a good reason. Dumbledore had thought about helping the Italians with the exiled Death Eaters, but he had to deal with other stuff that was about to hit the fan here in England. Snape wanted to help too, as he had old friends there, including Mari, but he had to help Dumbledore out, of course. Dumbledore was always convinced that Voldemort would return and so they had prepared it all. So far the plan had gone askew, but it was still redeemable.
"That..." Severus began looking at the photograph before sighing, "Brings back a lot of memories. It was taken in Chris's seventh year, right?" That year was a fairly good year, though there were a lot of things between him and Lily that didn't go very well and some other things that didn't go well, but all in all, not a bad year, compared to some others.

"They seem very happy together," she agreed. "I think her relationship with George is about as close to normal as Angelina's life had ever been."
Though her older sister would never admit it, Mari knew that every time Jared forgot himself and tried to speak only to remember that he would never, Marisol blamed the British for not being able to deal with the Death Eaters. It was easier than blaming herself, though she proably did that, too. Mari had no idea how it must've felt for Marisol to lose her eldest son and nearly lose Jared; that the boy recovered at all was a miracle. It was a greater miracle that Jared had been able to do any magic, let alone the spells that Mari had seen him using. She was incredibly proud of her nephew; they all were.
"Si. Papa took it," she remembered. "It was the week before Chris graduated. Seventh year was always a little weird without him and Maria around."
Chris had, despite being a year older, become a fixture in their group of friends. Rowdy, hard-drinking and always ready for a brawl, Mari couldn't deny that her elder brother was a handful, but they had loved having him around. She wondered if he' d be able to put his talents to use in England after the war, keeping spirits high. He had proven to be good at that in the past.

"When that Weasley boy as a boyfriend is as normal as her life has been, that is quite scary," Severus replied with a small chuckle, but quite serious when he had said it, "But I'm sure he will be a good influence on her life. Everyone deserves someone they care about."
Well, except him, in his mind at the moment, which didn't mean that view wouldn't change eventually. At the moment, he didn't have a woman he cared about in that way that was alive, and he felt he did not deserve anything happy in life, for he had committed terrible sins, and was the reason Lily died. If he had not told Voldemort what Trelawney had said Lily would still be alive. But, that was dwelling in the past, something he was really trying not to do, especially in a good majority of his life where it was dark, besides the times he was with his friends. But even those times were fairly depressing with several dead, and the others he didn't see for many years at a time. He had to stop thinking like that, he really was trying to, but it was hard when that evidence was all around him at all times.
"It was most definitely different, but not bad," Snape said, knowing that their seventh year was the year when he knew that he had lost Lily forever, but it was still not that bad, considering his home life, and the years following their seventh year. "Sometimes I wish we were still in school, much less complicated, and we had a lot more contact."

"She's a good kid, and George treats her well. I was happy that she met someone period," she admitted. "Angelina works a lot, and she tends to skip out on leave, even when she's been ordered to rest."
She tried to pretend that he hadn't said the last part. She didn't want to think about how she'd lost Vin and he'd lost Lily. It seemed that everyone but Mari and Sev deserved to have someone they cared about. She didn't like those sorts of thoughts; they killed morale, so she tried to avoid thinking them whenever she could.
"And we still had those two goofballs," she agreed with a soft laugh, tapping Gwyn's face on the photo. Since it was enchanted, Gwyn shook her fist at Mari.

"I'm sure that now she has the Weasley boy, he can teach her how to take it easy. The Weasley twins do not know very much more than making someone feel relaxed, or excited, and just happy," Severus said, before he shook his head at all this idiocy that he was actually supporting those twins, and actually showing that he actually cared about those like the Weasley menaces, "Not that I care about them..." Smooth, Sev, smooth. Way to show you do care.
Of course, when he had said his statement that everyone deserved someone, he did mean Mari. Not him, but Mari did deserve someone. He was sure someone would come along and take her away from him... from him as friends of course.
"That is true. I miss them; I don't have very many people that can bring my spirits up anymore, really just you and Chris. And I haven't seen Chris yet," Sev replied smiling as he watched Gwyn shake her fist at him. He had one of them in his office, hidden in his desk so the Carrows wouldn't ask anything about it as they tried to find some dirt on him, because they didn't like him, feeling that he had stolen the glory of killing Dumbledore from someone more deserving.
