Tonks had decided to go on a short holiday that ended up turning into about two weeks in a town near the Sahara. It was always warm durring the day, so she didn't have to worry about freezing and not knowing what was say and what was night. Here it was nearing the end of summer, but where she was it was always summer. Seeing as the heat only let up durring the night, Tonks was wearing safari shorts, camisol, and a small safari jacket. This weather is so much better than below freezing temperatures, she thought smirking.
Tonks had recived a letter before leaving and had denied reading it for the longest time. She'd bite her nails and look at it, or think too much about it then throw it across her tent. At one point she'd even thought that it was a fake and she was going to get called out for having it at the Ministry. Luckily none of that had happened and now after reading it, she had started to laugh at herself and cry still. No matter what she did, she'd find something to cry about. Each day she'd read it and tried to write a reply, each day she'd throw away parchment after parchment. She had no idea what to say.
One day after sitting around in her tent, Tonks decided to take a chair outside and just relax. Being sad and stressed made her life worse than it already was. It was then that she thought she'd seen something on the horizon that resembled a bright white light. It could be a car, she thought shrugging. After a bit she noticed it wasn't getting bigger or smaller, it was staying in one place. She quickly sent a message to Dumbledore for back up. It could be the same as what they'd seen in Antarctica, or it could've just been her imagination. But magic was working just fine in this area, she had heat durring the night and a fan durring the day in her tent that she hadn't installed by hand. In Antarctica it took forever for the tent to work fully, all by magic too. What could it mean?

Why did Dumbledore have to be so cruel? Sending him of all people as backup for Nymphadora Tonks. Ever since he wrote his letter he had been nervous to be around her, and avoided her as much as he could. He wondered if Dumbledore was keep putting them in this situation on purpose. Then again he was the leader of the expedition down in Antarctica, so he would know about what happened there best of all. Remus didn't really want to come since it would stop his ability to avoid the young lady he loved so much.
Remus apparated near to the area that he was supposed to go, where Dumbledore said Tonks would be. It was quite hot here, since Remus was wearing long sleeves and long blue jeans, to hide all of his scars. Remus walked up to a nearby tent where he sensed magic had been preformed to set up. He peeked his head in and spotted Tonks.
"Hello," Remus stated as if she hadn't read his letter, since he didn't know if she did, given he hadn't gotten a response, "You called for backup?"

Tonks was standing in her tent rubbing her tumb on her lip, she had he envelope in her hand and as soon as she heard someone open the tent she shoved it, hard and fast, into her pocket. She'd even been holding a torch (flashlight) for no apparent reason. Tonks had no idea why but she had the feeling she would need it soon.
Turning around and throwing a pillow as hard as she could, she screamed, "Don't you knock!!" She had no idea why she said that but for some reason she felt like it'd been like the times her father would peek his head in her room to see what she was up to. Each time he'd get a pillow to the face.
After realizing who it was she turned back around and crossed her arms. Out of all the people in the Order, you had to send me him huh Dumbledore, she asked herself, "Yes I did.. Now grab a bag and lets go." She picked up a bag full of food and water. Also grabbing a muffin from one of the cabinets, she started to head out the door without looking at Lupin.

"Sorry I wasn't thinking," Remus replied almost jumping from the surprise of her reaction. Remus almost could swear that she was looking at a letter, but that was probably his imagination, since he really wanted her to read his letter, perhaps see a little more into his side of this quarrel. Again, Dumbledore seemed to be putting them into situations together too often. If it wasn't for Sophie he probably would never have sent that letter.
"O-ok," Remus replied following her, knowing that something was wrong with her, probably because of him, and he was used to this treatment towards him. He expected it to, though it hurt him deeply, he encouraged it, hoping she wouldn't like him anymore.

Tonks looked toward the horizon, the sun was still pretty high in the sky but with her luck it'd get dark faster than she'd realize. She had the pack over her shoulder and her arms across her stomach. She sighed, I sound so mean... I'm not a mean person so what's wrong with me? she asked herself. She furrowed her brow and turned around.
"I'm sorry, I just.. I don't know.." she said looking at the sand.

Remus looked up at her, and then sighed. Love hurt so much, at least to him, almost like he was allergic to it or something. And of course when a child gets sick it eventually goes away, but it seemed when it went away for him, it left him more hurt than before. Why did love have to hurt him so badly? Sometimes he rather someone stab him in the heart, it hurt more than that with this love he felt.
"Don't know?" Remus asked, he wondered, did she read his letter?

Tonks shook her head again. She didn't know what to say at all but she did have something to say. Sadly she couldn't get what she wanted to say out.
"Sorry, I'm not thinking straight, let's just get moving before sun down." she said turning around and wiping her face trying to be subtle.

Remus sighed walking up next to her. His mind was torn, and was completely confused on what he should do. He was so deeply in love with her, and yet he knew he couldn't do anything, and doing anything would make him feel worse in the future, maybe help for a small amount of time. Why couldn't he just go with his instincts?
"Tonks," Remus insisted, "You can tell me what is wrong." Of course it was his stupidity of sending that blasted letter, why couldn't he just have not done anything? Remus didn't know what else to do.

Tonks adjusted her jacket. She needed to get her mind away from what was on it. Sadly this wasn't helping. Tonks' shoes were sneakers for protection from the scorpions that lived out here.
"No, I can't. I don't know what to say to you.." she said.

"Tell me that you hate me, tell me that you never want to see me again, I'll oblige," Remus began thinking of how much it would hurt if she said that to him, "Please, Tonks... I can't stand it anymore. I-I..." Remus hesitated for a minute, before saying, "I want to know what you are thinking." He wished he was accomplished at Legimens now, but it was too late for that. He didn't know what she was thinking, or if it was anything good. He just wanted to know what she was thinking right now.
Remus was starting to feel the weight of this heat, with both long pants and shirt, no wonder he was beginning to sweat, whether it was because he was nervous or because of his heat holding clothing. Remus continued to stay near to her, though not too close.

"I don't hate you, I do want to be around you its just.. I don't know.. I just can't think straight.." Tonks said still walking, her skin was still pretty pale for the amount of time she'd been in the sun, "I keep thinking about a letter I read recently, I can't think of what to say in reply and no matter how hard I try nothing seems to fit right.. If you saw the trash bin in my tent you'd see the bits and pieces of replied that have taken me two weeks to even begin."
Tonks could see that he was starting to get warm and said, "You might want to try safari clothing, it's lighter and much more durable in this weather.."

"Y-you read a letter?" Remus swallowed thinking that she actually read his letter. He wasn't quite sure what to say, but Remus gathered up the courage and followed after her. "T-this letter you read, you aren't sure how to reply to it... M-maybe I dunno, you could... respond with everything, the frustration, the anger, and yet, accept what it says?"
"I'm fine, I refuse to wear anything with shorter sleeves or pant length," Remus replied stubbornly, not wanting to change out of it, especially show all of his nasty scars on his arms and legs. He was going to make himself comfortable in these clothes.

"Yes I read a letter," Tonks replied with the slight bit of attitude, "I've tried pouring everything into a reply I just can't.. Every reply ends in a scream and a throw and then me falling on my nose." Each time she'd written something she'd end up not liking it and throwing it on the floor, in which she'd stand up and fall over from tripping on the paper.
"You're skin needs to breath, besides the town back ther is abandoned. No one would see but me.." she added closing her eyes, "Plus you'll die from either exaustion or over heating."

Remus took a deep breathe in, thinking of what to say next. "I see..." Remus said lamely thinking about it, "Is it too hard to accept, what that letter said, or do you not want to accept it?" He wanted to know what she thought about it. He hated not knowing what was going on in her head. At least before he knew that she was upset that he had rejected her, and was sad, but now he didn't know and he hated not knowing.
"I said I'm fine," Remus replied shortly, "I'm just fine." He didn't want her most of all to see him like that.

Tonks looked straight forward, "I don't want to accept what it said, I want what I want.. I won't listen to a blasted letter. Or what anyone else says a should and shouldn't do." She clenched her fists and her jaw tightened, reading part of it made her mad, reading all of it made her want to hit a wall and then just cry.
"Well when you pass out from the heat you're going to have to find a way to cool off by yourself.." she sighed. In her head she added, Just quit being stubborn already! I get it, it's because I'm here. I don't care about the blasted scars you have on your arms!!
