Remus stayed straight faced when she asked if he was worried about her. Deciding he shouldn't encourage her he stated, "I worried as much as I would about anyone else in the Order." Completely untrue, but then again, he didn't want her to get too close (which he was worried had already happened so he tried distancing himself), and if he said the truth it would just encourage her more.
"The Nile? Right..." Remus said sensing a lie, but not really saying anything about it, though the 'right' almost revealed it; he quickly continued on, "Anyways, where do you think we are? I looks like the other side." Remus was extremely nervous with Tonks on this side of the... whatever it was they passed through, because for all they knew a hundred Death Eaters were going to jump out at them at any second.
((PS - They are in the future Sahara, it'll be explained eventually))

((Kay XD))
Tonks dropped her smirk. Well that was rude, she thought. Dampened her mood too, she wasn't going to seem as nice now. She crossed her arms and cocked her jaw, it gave her the look of a teenager that didn't get what they wanted and was then trying to get it. Hey wait! That was her! Although she wasn't a teenager.
"What? I can't take a guess at where we are? " Tonks asked feeling offended, then sarcastically she said, "No, I thought we had gone in a cricle around it." She looked around half tempted to walk back through but she was probably the only one keeping Death Eaters at bay. Most of them knew she was an Auror, maybe all of them knew seeing as there was so many in the Ministry.

Remus didn't want to be rude, but not long ago, a few minutes ago, Remus had decided to change his way of going at this keep Tonks away sort of thing. Since what he was doing wasn't working and since Tonks was so in love with him he would not act like himself, in fact the opposite almost, though at a point he would act like he normally would, such as his worry about her coming through. And that way, she wouldn't like him very much, and eventually he wouldn't have to worry about her hanging onto him, and maybe they could be just friends without the tension between the two of them.
"That makes so much sense! Why didn't I see it before?" Remus replied sarcastically feeling like a jerk, each word feeling like a knife being plunged into him heart. He might not be able to keep this act up. "We need to find out where we actually are," Remus stated looking around, holding his wand out and using a GPS sort of spell telling him where they were in longitude and latitude, a spell of his own design of course. "Can't be right..." Remus muttered. According to the spell, they were just a few feet away from where they were before.

Tonks crossed her arms, she now was hurt even worse than before. She couldn't show it or it would just be another sign of weakness and would give any death eater a way to defeat her. A lump formed in her throat, she'd wanted to cry, to let all her pain out in several screams and cries. She didn't speak for a while, afraid her voice would crack from the lump.
"Don't. Don't use what I use against me," she choked still holding back tears and cries. Why couldn't he just say yes? She could just see it from the way they were around each other that he liked her too, so why couldn't he just attempt at it? "What? Figure out your theory was wrong?" she was coming off rude, it wasn't her and it made her want to cry more.

Remus knew he had upset her, and he knew that it was working at least slightly... at least he thought it was working. He hated being so mean and rude as it wasn't at all himself. But that was the point. He wanted to push Tonks away. Remus was fine being the creepy protective stalker to Tonks, he just didn't want her to love him. Deep down he did want her to love him as much as he loved her. This was all because he loved her too much to let himself act on those feelings. He couldn't think of anything else that would satisfy what he wanted to do, which was protect Tonks from him, and others.
"I'm-" Remus said having to force himself to not break and just be himself and apologize, seeing as the growing pain he was causing in Tonks. He knew that the pain now was nothing compared to the pain she would have if she just hung onto her notion that she loved him. If that was so, then what about the full moon? He could turn her or kill her every month. And if she ever wanted kids, he couldn't give them to her, seeing as his kind didn't breed and if they did their children usually died withing the first year. "I'm just stating the truth," Remus finished with almost a growl, feeling like the ultimate jerk in his head, but keeping his body language with the mood of the words. "Yes it was proven very wrong," Remus forced himself to grit through his teeth as if he were mad, but really he was just saddened and hurt by himself, "We are just a few steps away from where we were before, therefore it didn't just have us appear in a different area of the world."

Tonks didn't know what to say, she just couldn't do it anymore. She couldn't hold in a cry of heartbreak as she tried to speak. Trying to compose herself she bit the inside of her lip a tear slid down the left side of her face. Tonks turned so it couldn't be seen, she didn't want to be seen crying again and again and again. Most times people regarded her as 'the Tonks that's weak and feeble', she didn't like the name but put up with it because she figured Remus would finally say he loved her and would actually try a relationship with her.
Another cry of pain as she tried to speak, she cleared her throat, her voice cracking, "What happened to the person I was talking to on the other side of that ball of light hmm? It seems he left and was replaced by someone else!" She felt another stab to her already crippled heart, she continued talking, she sounded still weak but still quite confident, "Well then we're no where near the Nile, but I don't think we're in the same place. If we were, you'd be able to see my tent."

It was taking so much out of him to keep it up. But he knew he had to... but even the most determined person in the world couldn't keep up such an act. Remus turned and made sure he wasn't looking at her, which would make it so much harder. With a deep breathe Remus held his wand out, just in case someone dangerous was around. He never thought of Tonks as weak or anything of the sort, but he did think she was rash and he wanted to make sure her rash behavior didn't cause her death or pain.
"Of course," Remus said almost with a frustrated tone, fake of course, ignoring her first comment about the man that was on the other side of the 'ball of light', feeling he didn't have a response, "The question is where... or when... or in what universe... So many possibilities."

Tonks didn't have anything to say. So she stayed quiet the entire time. Looking at where they'd come from she weighed her options, stay and cry or leave and cry. Hmm... tough choice, either way, she was going to cry. The only difference was that she could let her cries be heard, or she could cry alone and break down entirely. Decisions, decisions, was it always this hard to choose? No, it couldn't have been, she always was quick at knowing what she wanted.
"Watch, we're twenty years in the future and you died already!" Tonks scowled, she was mad and was taking it out. She had choked up once she'd finished and then wiped her eyes.

Remus kept his face straight as he made sure to look away from Tonks. He kept telling himself this was for the better. But maybe he shouldn't have done it on a mission this important. But he felt it was now or never. However if it would mean failing this mission then he would blame himself, and try to repair it only slightly.
"Wouldn't be implausible seeing as they are hunting unregistered werewolves down," Remus replied blandly, "I bet sooner or later the ministry will hunt down even the registered ones." It was true. Remus truly thought that when the war got worse the ministry would blame all werewolves and hunt them down. And that included him. If they were somehow in the future, which Remus doubted slightly, he wouldn't be surprised if he were dead.

Tonks crossed her arms and kept staring in the direction they'd come from. Could she go back and be left in her sorrow? She'd already spent most of the holidays that year alone. She really didn't know what to do. Her shoulders shook with a silent cry, and she wiped her eyes to hide it again.
"Lets jus-just go, there's nothing special going on here." she choked out, "Africa is always going to be desolate and baron."

Remus made sure to keep his eyes from wondering back to Tonks. It would only end with his resitance breaking or something like that. Remus closed his eyes for only a second to reassure himself that what he was doing was right, and was strengthened by his reassurance. It was the only way he could keep up with this. He knew he was hurting her, but it hurt him so much as well. She never broke his heart, but he broke his hard into the shattered remanants that remained, if you first admitted he had a heart. And he wasn't sure as of the late. How could someone like him ever be loved back, and then not accept it, and shove it into the face of the one they love and loved them back, have a heart? He sure felt the hurt like he had one, but he wasn't sure if he had any heart left after he crushed his heart so much.
"Fine," Remus said bitterly turning around to face Tonks, which broke down at him, but he didn't break but instead reinforced his part in all of this, even if it hurt him so much, "After you."

Tonks didn't even wait for him to tell her she could go first. She took off toward the way back and just kept running till she got to her tent. She'd fallen three times on the way from the sand but ended up okay. She put a concealment charm around her tent, grabbed a blanket, and cried beneath it. She couldn't say anything from the cries she was emitting, it was better than some of the things she would be saying.
((Still brain-dead! Plus I've got another test on Tuesday and I really just want to sleeeeeeeep.))

As soon as Tonks was away from sight, he sighed and stepped through the portal after her, watching her run away, with almost a pained look on his face, worse than the expression he had when Harry had gotten away from him the night Sirius died. Once she was far enough away while he still watched her run, Remus hit his head with the side of his clenched fist. How could he have a heart and still bear something like this?
Once Tonks was out of view, he still watched the empty dessert in the direction that she ran. After a good half an hour, Remus turned around and started to disable the device, which was harder to disable than the other one. Once he had finished and it took a good two hours to finish, Remus apparated away to Hogsmeade to present Dumbledore with the device.
